Nice colours and detail. The water drops are a very nice touch. I find the unopened bud on the left is a little distracting though. Everything else about the photograph is perfect. Very nice capture.

Hi Dave,
Very nice composition. The water drops are a nice touch. Personally, I don't find the extra bud distracting. On the contrary, it adds a little more intrest to the shot.
Ours are probably going to open tomorrow, if the squirrels don't get them.

Lovely day lily. The colors and details are good. I like a natural setting for floral photos, so IMO the unopened bud belongs in this shot. The light seems a tad flat, could just be my old eyes. lol

Hi Jessie, thanks for the comment! I didn't really do anything special to get the dark background, except to make sure I exposed for the flower itself and not the surroundings. I usually use the spot exposure mode, and recompose to take the shot to do this.

The colour is great, it hurts the eyes, but I love it! There is no overexposure and the details are so sharp!!!I love it that you chose one with a bud, it gives the open flower more warmth! It does look fantastic with the raindrops on! I'd say this is a perfect floral shot, Dave!

Beautiful orange tones to this lovely floral study my dear friend. The details are fabulous and the clarity outstanding. I personally like the shot's inclusion of the bud yet to open as it makes a statement about what it hopes to become. The raindrops are always a lovely bonus and I really ought to time some of my own floral work to coincide with this element. Heather's batch started to open the other day but I have yet to take a potshot:):) Well done to you Dave, a most delightful composition. Ok Dave, here is my Critique. The good: Great crop, excellent sharpness and detail, water on leaves and colour make the shot. Flower dof front to back is very good. Overall shot composition very pleasing. The bad: Whole shot lacks light,contrast and pop, looks underexposed and dark. I too find the bud on the left slightly distracting. There seems to be some type of grain/spots under left bottom leaf. Background blur would make the flower jump out more although hard to do with your camera.

Absolutey gorgeous shot with excellent clarity and the waterdrops adds a nice touch, love the contrast between the orange lily and the green leafs and I do like the composition, well done. :)
