Dave,
Love how you've made the the squares on the image. Very creative!! The lighting on her face and arms is perfect, no blur as well. You must have really steady hands.
I was reading an article I think it was Popular Photography (some photo magazine) about this very same issue. Photographers are now ostracized for taking photos of famous places in public. Those papparazzis hounding famous people likewise don't help one bit. What threat does a photographer pose inside an airplane?

I can't tell you the number of times I've had problems with my camera. Including threats of arrest and even being detained. And this is taking photographs in PUBLIC places. Nothing top secret about anything.
I've also been confronted by regular people who demand to know why I am taking their photos. I work with my camera in public, on the highway. I even get people stopping and threatening me because they happened to drive by while I am photographing for work.
My son has had his media siezed by the police in public, on a sidewalk, in downtown Denver. Of course, I later intervened and got an apology by the police dept. The media was lost, though. The cop apparently threw it in the trash instead of turning it in. They've tried that with me, I've told them where to stick it.
It is disgusting what this country has become with the paranoia. Americans get their photos taken every single day by hidden cameras. But show a camera in public anymore.....

Sorry, Cathy. Just being a smart A.. I knew what you were asking.
Assuming you have Photoshop but other programs probably work similarly. After placing the white border, make a copy of it by going to layers/duplicate layer. Then make the new layer smaller by using edit/free transform. You keep the aspect ratios of the photo by holding down the shift key while sizing it.
Once it is to the size you want, make two more layers by copying the smaller photo in layers/duplicate layer. Now arrange them and rotate them as you see fit via edit/transform/rotate.
Once you have them where you want them, you flatten the image via layer/flatten image.
Hope that kinda explains it.

Firstly, Dave, what a great candid image! Secondly, you've presented it very well. And, thirdly, what a fascinating story! So, women are no threat? Only men? LOL Well, if you want to grab some shots on a flight, next time, wear a dress and a wig - you won't have a problem! LOL

I can completely relate, Dave!
So much so that I keep my Palm Pilot with me, complete with my portfolio, to ease the 'explanation' to authorities.
The question I'm always dying to ask (but don't, knowing it would make things worse) is "Do you think if I were casing the joint, I would be using a large, consipicuous pro camera instead of my cell-phone?"
