odd ... it looks above ground to me.. or is this in the portal zone

Hi Roger,

The underground railroad was not really "underground" or a "railroad". The UR was a highly secret network or paths, homes and hiding places that escaped slaves would use to get north to freedom. This part of the UR was by Sandy Spring- a quaker community that helped the slaves with places to hide, etc. It's actually pretty interesting- I can't explain it very well, but here's a link that will help-
