About Couldn't resist the new red haired horse up the road. (Same place again Mark where your idea of the picture of me and my Dad was set- see what I got out of that!) Good big wild thing- been trying to get it to stay still for ages! They seem to suddenly stare into my eyes and not move! Handy so I can put the camera nearly on its nose! (PS Didn't add a tear- he had a watery eye- must be the heatwave).

How sweet with this horse with the "tear" running down its face. It looks so calm and cute, and it´s funny to see a horse so close:-)It seems like you have many horses close to your home, Mary. They truly are beautiful animals.
Take care,
Annemette

Nice shot with a beautiful composition, well done!

Quix Photography   {K:20204} 7/27/2006
Beautiful shot, though also sadness.... the tear adds impact here. Excellent clarity in this close up... though no glint in this eye leaves me feeling sorrow.

Got a horse closeup myself a few weeks ago, have not posted it but did think of you when I got it... think the horse was showing an interest in photography... lol

Anyway... attached it for you.

Horse close up

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
I wasn't sure whether to paint his "tears" out! Anyhow, well pleased that you like this one Elizabeth. I was very lucky it kept so still for a while! Thanks ever so much.

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Alicia- really pleased you like this. I am pleased I got this one- he is a new one up the road and beautiful. I was very lucky to see him!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Kes- really pleased you liked him! I am still not sure whether I should have painted out his "tear". I hope it wasn't me bunging the camera on his mush that made him cry!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks for writing Ricardo. I was just so lucky this stayed still and didn't mind a camera on its nose!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Rashed- not like me to do a "real" picture! And he didn't seem to mind a close camera!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Laura- you sum his character up just right-beautiful beast! I expect he will be sold soon, so I am well pleased I got him. I love his colouring- even those eyelashes are red!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Sue. Glad you liked this new horse. He does look a bit sad. The heatwave must not agree with him! He will be sold by the owner soon no doubt so I was very lucky to catch him. Now thanks so much for your horse- that has got what I like- that element of wildness. Great eye and hair. (Hope you wouldn't mind if I print it. It is beautiful- thank you.)

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Susan. I was well lucky he stayed still- like I hypnotised him!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks so much Yomna. I am very pleased that you like this horsey! I am still surprised it kept still enough! Must be fascinated by the camera on its face!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Michael for looking and writing- you are right- he has great lashes- must use great mascara!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks so much Annemette. I was so surprised anything came out in the picture! It is so hit and miss if me and the horse are still enough! There are a few horses up the road so I am very lucky there.

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks so much Riny. This is a new horse in the field up the road, so I was very lucky to catch him! Hypnotising him to stay still was the hard bit!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks so much Galal- I am well pleased that you like this horsey! I am very pleased that I caught him!

Luis Limchiu   {K:3168} 7/28/2006
The details and colors are the most wonderful parts of this image Mary. Somehow I feel the black tears add macabre feeling to it, not totally bad as it adds interest to it. I can see this image as movie poster on some evil forces involving a horse. Oh, I think I've streech my imagination to much. Cheers Luis

stingRay part 2 .   {K:148553} 7/28/2006
This is a wonderful close up of 'Red' the details are awesome my sweet Mary and although the tear evokes a poignant feeling, all horses tend to 'cry' in certain conditions. The colour tones too are most beautiful and as for those looooooong eyelashes....eat your hearts out girls. All these fabulous features enriched with a wonderful bold crop. Well done to you sweetie. BTW.......what's with calling this noble beast's face a mush Mush???? What kind of talk is that from sweet little Mary??:):):) My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Ray. I am well pleased I got this at all! Shoving a camera on his mush....apologies... his beautiful face I mean of course! It is good to know that he wasn't crying. I don't know much about horses- which is of course what fascinates me! And I don't have to clean them- that might put me off! You are right about his eyelashes- maybe I could cut them off and have them as false lashes for myself!!

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Luis- much appreciated. I am not normally one to get normal pictures- so I am well chuffed the horse stayed still! I do like your imagination! Movie poster, evil forces....brilliant...I like!

Klaas  Baas   {K:15115} 7/28/2006
Good close up Mary, maybe he cried because he cannot come home with you. You know they feel it when you're a good person. This one full of detail and the horses colour is beautiful. Looking at this picture I get the idea that the horse is a very calm and friendly horse, hope I am right.
Wish you a very nice weekend, take care,

Klaas

Melisa Meyers   {K:9610} 7/28/2006
Love the crop and the tear sure adds a sense of emotion! I am glad you didn't paint the tear out but A little addage of catch light painted in would help the bring out the dimensions of his eye. I Always love your horse shots!!

Quix Photography   {K:20204} 7/28/2006
Thank you Mary... & I don't mind if you print it at all x

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Sue.

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Melisa- glad you liked this ginger horse! Heatwave should end soon, so I can go back and see is he still there! Good idea- I will try and mess with his eye.

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 7/28/2006
Thanks Klaas. I really was surprised this came out- didn't see what I was taking! His nose must have kept my hand still! I hadn't realised he was crying! Heatwave too much for us all I think.

Best wishes.

Gregory McLemore   {K:25430} 8/1/2006
A stunning capture, very moving.

Mark Sherman   {K:15520} 8/1/2006
I like going back to the same places too, think it forces you to be more creative and try new things. Your clarity on this is amazing, I can see his brown eye. You almost make an abstract, but grounded in reality. Your sharpness came out awesome on this, What caught me off guard was the wrinkles around the eye, never thought of a horse as being able to have wrinkles.

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 8/1/2006
Good to hear you Mark- thanks for tending the horse! Well pleased you liked him as I hadn't painted over it! Must get back up the alley and see can I examine his wrinkles more. (He was probably examining mine!).

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 8/1/2006
Glad you liked this horse Gregory- thanks for writing.

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 8/1/2006

Hi Mary,

What a fantastic closeup. You've really brought out the detail in the horse's hair, and his colour really makes the photo outstanding. Great work! :)

Alex Wasilewski   {K:1758} 8/8/2006
Wow!!! What an excellent crop with such exquisite details!!! The eye looks sad enough but the tear puts it over the top and makes the sadness more piercing...Wonderful image!!!! 7++++

Len Webster   {K:22402} 8/8/2006
