Thanks, Susie. She is 14 years old and the "dirty" look she is giving me is with the one good eye she has. She is blind in the other eye. I got her "good" side.

Jan she is as cute as can be. For hating her picture taken, she seems to sit pretty still for you. My little knot-heads want to run up and press their noses to the lens. Ha Ha! Kim-- thanks for the compliment to Zoe; I will pass your kind words on to the old girl. And yes, our furry friends add something special to our lives (not to mention cleaning up after them, feeding them goodies, and sometimes getting up at weird hours for them). But whose complaining? They give back a lot more than we give to them.

Hi Jan,
This a beautifull and sad picture altogether.
Why beautifull....well as you point out Zoe hates being photographed but stills looks at you with eyes full of love and trust.
Why sad....its a portrait of a very old friend and we all sadly know dogs usually don't outlive us. So this portrait reminds me that my own 2 friends( 9,5 and 10 years) won't stay with me for many more years.
I think this is the first animal portrait that really touched me emotionaly.
So very well done, I have spoken too ;)

Alain-- thanks for the kind and sensitive remarks. Since the time I posted this photo Zoe has passed on to Hound Heaven. We sure miss her a lot and every day goes by my wife and I still forget that she is not with us anymore. I posted a memorial photo at http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=1206571
just to note her passing.
As one animal lover to another let me thank you so much for noting Zoe's picture.

Thanks, Jerry. Zoe passed on to dog heaven in November and we are still blessed with our cat, Roland.

Thank you, Armando.
Zoe was a beloved memeber of our family for many years. She was gentle and beautiful in her special "hound" way. She died near the end of 2006 of old age but was happy and loving right to the end.
