About One of my co-workers asked me to do a few shots of her kitten to send to her sister in Croatia. I thought this one turned out pretty good.
Very low saturation to give a slightly different look to the green of the grass and cut down on the green glow on the kitten's fur.
A wild little cat, with great eyes!

Thanks to Dave Stacey for the title :)

An excellent perspective to shoot from, Andre! You might say a mouse eye view! Very well done details and textures on his fur, too.
Dave.

As usual very skilled and talented photographer coming up here with wonderful posts, I really like this cute with all of this powerful exposure, details and atmosphere, wishing you all of the best my friend

Andrzej Pradzynski   {K:22148} 8/4/2006
Andre, the thing is cute indeed, I can imagine you laying down on the lawn in not so comfortable position with your camera stuck to your eye and you saying "cheese" to the cute. It turned great, good job - yes we sometimes have to suffer for the fun. Cheers, NJ

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 8/4/2006
Thanks Carlo,
I'll have to drop by for a visit to your site again soon.

Thanks Andrzej,
You have the image of the photo session dead on!
I had the camera laying in the grass for this shot and a few others. You are right, sometimes when girls in the office ask us to take some pictures for them... we just have to suffer through it. :) It's hard work, but someone has to do it! :)

Dave,
I wish I had thought about that for the title. "Mouse Eye View"
Maybe I'll change it?

Thanks Enas,
I had a feeling this one would be hard to resist.. even if there are a lot of kitten pictures on this site, I think most people still like seeing them.
Thanks for visiting and commenting.

Thanks Rashed,
It's not my usual subject matter, but I kind of liked this one.

Thanks again Nil,
It's hard to go wrong with images of these guys :)

Some of my best friends are cat owners, I don't hold that against them. Of all the portraits I've done for them, they've never asked me to photograph their cats, can't imagine why that is... ;-D

You did a fantastic job on this Andre. Love the cute catchlights in those big glassy eyes and nice going on the post work too, still looks perfectly natural.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the glass project! :)

Cheers
Rina.

This is gorgeous my dear Andre, your focus is razor sharp and the clarity is outstanding. What a treasure this little kitten looks and what beautiful eyes it has. An excellent pet portrait with awesome details my friend. All the best....Ray

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 8/7/2006
Thanks Rina,
Welcome back!
You would think that cats might be pretty easy to photograph... we see so many images of them. But, it isn't as easy as it looks :) I must have taken about 50 shots of this little guy. He was very nervouse and wouldn't stand still for a second. Amazing how many bad shots I got. The fur is a killer for focusing.
I still have nothing for the Glass project... maybe next week?
Andre

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 8/7/2006
Thanks Ray,
It's a good thing, I don't have to show you the ones that didn't work out :)

Ferrrrr-OCIOUS! Love it. Contrast between the dark grey cat and the light background works well, the framing works and the DOF is just right. But what makes this (besides the subject matter ... kittens are always good) is the POV. An excellent photo.

Jon

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 8/11/2006
Thanks Jon,
I agree. I think the Pov is crucial to this one. I will have to remember that and use it on some other subjects. It brings to mind some mushroom shots I took a while ago. It really adds intrest when you get the camera down low.

Great angle in this one Andre! the effort was well worth it for sure, love the colors and details in the hairs.

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 8/14/2006
Hi Fadel,
I have to admit, I had some difficulty trying to get this shot. The little guy just wouldn't sit still. He just wouldn't stop going for the camera. A lot of people complain about pet images here because they figure it isn't really art, I guess? Maybe if they tried to take a decent shot of a playful kitten they might change their minds on how difficult it is to get one right :) :)

Carlen Schmidt   {K:6955} 8/15/2006
I think this image really shows how much of a difference changing levels/perspective can make a photo that much better. As you said, kittens are running around all the time and not easy to shoot. I think you did a great job. Did your co-worker like it?

Andre Denis   {K:61663} 8/15/2006
Thanks Carlen,
Yes, she liked all the images that I took, even though most of them were not as good as I would have liked. I'm pretty sure she just saw the cute kitten :)

I thought this was the best of the lot myself and I think you are right about the perspective being the key.

Hi Biljana,
Yes, I guess this guy would be about one year old now.
I was very pleased with the colouring of this shot.
Andre
