About Just back from a few days vacation, and started doing some cleaning up of images to get ready to start framing some work for a show when I stumbled on this.

From a night playing with studio lights a few months ago. This is one of a series from when a retired lily became my test subject on an over-used cookie sheet.

Very long exposure, and filled with painted light.

Curious what you all think, as I can't remember my reason for not posting it for comments after I processed it. Hmm... you know how it is :)

...now, I still have to find some glass to take pictures of :)

Beautiful - i like the dark feel into it and the close todeath look....

It's a beautiful image, as the others have already said. I'm especially impressed by the tonality and details. Mostly, I admire your choice of subject, backdrop and lighting. For the lighting, or processing, I like the darkness at the sides.

Great image!! It looked kind of 'familiar' and after reading your about I thought: Okay I'm not losing it (yet)... LOL!! Wonderful B&W tones and textures, fantastic lighting!! Neat or should I say weird effect from turning this 90 degrees, for at first glance you hardly even notice, but when you take a longer look at it it sort of doesn't 'add up'... that makes the image even more interesting though... well done!!

Thank Phil!

yes... I've been wicked busy. Almost don't have time to pour beer from the bottle to the glass these days.

Thanks for the comments on this! Very appreciated! I think i'm going to present it for the show.. print if full on Super-B art paper.

hope all is well!

Thank you for the comments Jeanette!

...i wanted you all to help me decide if it was good enough for the show. I was asked to present my 'flora', and I'm in the phase where I just want to take images of patterns and buildings... so I'm not in tune w/ the florals..

thanks so much for your comments! ...i think i'll show the image! :)

Rotate 1 degree CCW, punch the white just a touch, you will OWN this image.

Ron Wilson   {K:18161} 8/19/2006
I really like the way that you paint with light Joel. The subject matter is different, sort of like the flower that was. Your painted lilly a few months back is still my favorite though I will fav this one too. The cookie sheet as a background is pure brilliance, the texture it adds is so nice. Regards Ron.
