I had real problems getting the camera to record this scene as I saw it, until I realized that the problem was that the white balance was set to "Auto" and that it was mistaking the colouration for incandescent light and stripping the oranges tones out. I set the WB manually and it made all the difference - this image is how the scene looked to my eyes.
