It is an amazing night shot. The lightning is ideal and the view is terrific. I adore the perspective you’ve chosen and could show the San Felipe de Neri Church so perfectly!

Thanks Phil. I wasn't supposed to be here this time of night, it is illegal to be in the district after 10 PM. I was immediately stopped by the police who then told me to go ahead and set up and take pictures.
I was surprised to find the amount of time this required for exposure.

Thank you Maxime. I was surprised by the amount of time it took for a good exposure because it wasn't exactly totally dark. There were lots of lights around but the trees must have shaded the building from external sources.

Hi Dave,
Extremely good image quality for such a long exposure. I also like the composition, with the hard, almost monochrome contrast between the black sky and the warm tones of the wall. Very creative touch, and very well done with the flashlight. Excellent shot.

Thank you, Hugo. I had been wanting to do an all-nighter in Albuquerque for a long time. It is more than an hour away from home. I found myself there late this night and decided to make my poor, hungry dog suffer just a bit more while I did some night shoots.
I was very limited to my position due to the presence of two very bright flood lights shining directly at the camera off to the left, under the gateway arch. But it turned out to be the best point to capture the building anyway.
As I said, I was surprised to need a 4 minute exposure and figured I'd have a real problem with noise. Other than a few hot pixels and very limited noise, I was even more surprised.

Awesome and very creative work with this one Dave . . . I have to say the long exposure surprised me . . . I'd have thought that background and ambient light levels from the surrounding area would have added a blue-gray tinge to the inky blackness of the sky . . . I like the POV on this one too. The warm hues work well on this black BG.
I had tried flashlight and laser light painting before with mixed results. You certainly didn't get mixed results with this -- it came out very nicely! Nice deal with the local law enforcement too . . . :)
