Hi Tony,

Just curious what it is you want to know or what you'd like to get feedback on - it's a Critiquers' Corner Photo, after all...

I don't think there's much wrong about this shot - it's very well done in all aspects. Excellent tonal range, with very subtle details in both the shadow parts and blacks, as wwell as in the brighter spots. A very good B&W conversion. I wouldn't expect anything less from a D2x in terms of image quality and details either.

Also, the composition is fine, a rather classic style of portraiture. Maybe there's a bit too much negative space on the right side, considering the model is looking to the left, and I'd expect a bit more off centered composition. The sly smile is fine, and creates a nice expression. It could've been a little more expressive, but that's subjective.

In postprocessing, I think I would darken the tonal range in the irises a bit, and dodge a bit in the whites of the eye. Maybe you did the latter, but burnign the iris a bit might give it a bit more bite so to speak.

In all, a very solid shot; nothing more, nothing less. Well done.

Cheers,

Hugo
