Like a pure glass spaceship landing on a pure glass mountain. Makes me feel good to look at this, Phillip!:) This could also be entered in the Deep Blue project.

Rashed Abdulla   {K:163889} 8/21/2006
One more fascinating Abstracts and so pleasant one, great light here and presented in top gear.
Wishing you all of the best my friend.

Phillip  Minnis    {K:13535} 8/21/2006
Oh, thank you very much, Shirley! I appreciate your comments!

Thank you, also, for commenting on my 'Windows of Colour' image. After uploading it, I noticed a couple of white specks in one of the panels. I have, since, cloned the specks out and reloaded the revised version.

Cheers

Phil

Great crop-work on this one - from the thumbnail I thought it was a water drop shot. Nice blue tones and texture, good work Phillip.

Shirley D. Cross   {K:151501} 8/21/2006
You are so welcome! I had to re-take the other into my 'Favorites'.:)

Hi Phil,

I like this one very much - the crop james suggested is excellent. Very dynamic and well balanced, and the deep, highly saturated tones are excellent. It looks as if you applied a surface blur or something, as the transitions and details within one tone seem almost unnaturally smooth.. Maybe it's something else, though... (like another type of filter, or just my imagination)

Cheers,

Hugo

Phillip  Minnis    {K:13535} 8/21/2006
G'day, Hugo!

Thanks for the comments! As usual, they are much appreciated!

No, I didn't apply a blur. I reduced the noise, twice, in PS, to give it a more smoother look. Is that what has caused this look, do you think?

Cheers

Phil

Pablo Dylan   {K:61308} 8/21/2006

Wow! You "Cooked" the image!! Heheheheee :)
I think he had a great idea . . . I was about to call you the Picasso of Glass . . . but now I see the Dali of Glass instead . . .

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

James Cook   {K:37604} 8/21/2006
Great. You've deepened the blue? Looks wonderful. Like something out of Close Encounters. I'm so happy today.

Hugo de Wolf   {K:185017} 8/21/2006
Hey Phil,

You could almost leave it untouched except for the crop, which is definitely an improvement! Very well taken!

Cheers,

Hugo

Phillip, I cannot believe the amazing glass pictures you are submitting. I do not think anyone in the history of usefilm has submitted so many high quality award winning photos in any category before. Your shots keep getting better and better.

This is an amazing image. I don't know how I missed it before. It is really really neat and I just love it. You have an amazing eye. You are also making it hard for me to come up with another project that will be as good as this one. ;)

Phil

Phillip  Minnis    {K:13535} 8/23/2006
Oh, Phillip, I am totally blown away by your comments!!!!!

Seriously, and a little embarrassingly, I am only a rank amateur, with a very cheap and, somewhat, basic camera. I cannot believe the success I am having on this site. I keep thinking that it is one big 'fluke'! :)) I only joined this great site in January, this year.

Once again, Phil, thank you for your incredible comments! I appreciate them very much!

Cheers

Phil

Mary Brown   {K:69853} 8/23/2006
The colour variations are lovely. You have cedntered in well on an interesting part of the decanter. There is some sense of motion to these shapes that adds a great dimension. Something about this reminds me of a beautiful Moon hanginf over a mountain. Very eye appealing.

I don't know about being the 'King of Glass'! It's all a bit embarrassing! :) I'm really just an amateur having a lot of fun taking glass photos! I think it's all a bit of a fluke! :)

Oh, thanks, Sarah, for taking the time to comment!

Sarah, this is the thick, clear, glass top off a wine decanter. I took the lid outside, held it up to the clear sky, set the camera on macro, and shot the image. I then slightly cropped it, adjusted the saturation, levels and contrast in Photoshop.

Cheers

Phil
