About It has become a kind of unspoken tradition to refill a small glass, wine or beer bottle with some wildflowers, when packing up at the cottage. We left these last week.
Converted to greyscale and back again for some very subtle colour toning.

Thanks Nacho!
The tones in B&W did seem to suit this one nicely. It seems Daisys always look good in B&W.

Thanks Paolo,
This is one of those images where colour just appeared to be too busy. Colours going in every direction and no cohesion to the image. I think B&W was the best way to go for this one.
Thanks for visiting and for commenting.

The flowers survived well likely due to a couple sips of white wine you guys left in the glass before putting the flowers in. I'm not sure beer can do the same. Interesting scene, and the story behind. Cheers, NJ

Hi Andrzej,

They were only one day old when this was taken. They may not look quite so fresh when we get back :)

Hi Andre,

Great choice of B&W here and this frame "fits" well. A nice farewell gesture to a special place.

Dear Andre, you applied very nice B&W tones to this photo. The textures of the wood as well as blurred background strengthen the composition of the beautiful flowers. In addition, it have some romantic mood. Well done to you, dear friend.

Kind regards,
Virgis

Thanks Kes,
We will be going back for a few days later on in the week, after the Labor Day Weekend. (less people around then)

Thanks Virgis,
I took about ten or twelve shots from slightly different angles and different F stops. I think this one turned out about the best.

Hi Andre,

I like those little unspoken traditions. Those little routines are quite important, and not as insignificant as they may seem to others.

In this photo (back to photography, I guess) it's the combination of the shallow DoF and the unusual composition that grabbed my attention - breaking with every rule I've heard of (not that that means a lot) yet very effective. In this one, I do find the toning an addition to the feel of this image (quite rare - as you know) It creates a strong, somewhat sad feel about it.

Good shot,

Cheers,

Hugo

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/3/2006
Thanks Hugo,
I did take quite a few of this image from different angles and distances. The one that I always came back to (this one) was the one that most simulated my view from a normal sitting down position, as if I just looked down and noticed it there. Maybe this angle contributes to that human "sad" feeling that the image emotes. I agree with you about the toning also adding to the mood.
I'm glad you like it :)

A very lovely selection of wild flowers beautifully converted into these striking mono tones. What a wonderful tradition you observe my dear friend. Excellent details and textures. Well done to you Andre......My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray:)

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/28/2006
Thanks Ray,
There will be some wilted flowers sitting on that same porch right now :(
We will have to change them again soon.
Andre
