He's beautiful Jan ! I would have never guessed the age , not ever...
Great relaxing shot !

Best Wishes,
Michele~

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/4/2006
Thanks, Michele. She can barely walk and her brown spots are mostly grey now. I'll tell her she looks younger when sleeping; maybe I will get a Bassett smile from the old girl.

I think the grain had made wonder out of this image, added great textures and turned this image into a great painting which I did enjoy viewing.

Wishing you all of the best my friend.

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/12/2006
Jimmy - thanks for viewing and commenting. Zoe is a sweet old dog, not in the best of health and she hates to be photgraphed.

Susie  Peek-Swint   {K:5035} 9/18/2006
Such a sweet capture Jan ~ in the winter I tuck my old lab up in a blanket and he loves it!
regards, susie

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/18/2006
Thanks, Susie. Zoe is very gray and getting on in years so sleeping is her speciality now. She likes an oriental rug in front of the fireplace in the winter and a colder kitchen floor in the summer.
--Best to you, Jan

Dave Arnold   {K:55613} 9/19/2006
What a cutey and what a capture. Love the graininess or softness of this photo. Nah, she's not spoiled.

Dave

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/19/2006
I'll pass your comments onto Zoe during one of her "awake" periods. And yes... typical spoiled family dog.

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 9/20/2006
Wow. The 1600 ISO sure smacked this image full of grain. Makes it feel soft and artistic! I actually like it! LoL! Very nice capture and the crop and composition are bold and innovative! Nice work!

Tina D   {K:21} 9/25/2006
Jan, you captured a great moment of Zoe. I like the effect you used as well - I have a 10 y/o lab...wish they could stay young forever!

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/25/2006
Tina-- thanks for the nice comment on our Zoe. And yes... wish they could stay that way. I still remember the first day we got Zoe and she sat on my daughter's lap for the ride home. She only weighed a few pounds and when she tried to walk she would trip on her ears.
best Regards, Jan

Nicole Besch   {K:52594} 4/3/2007
Oh Jan, I'm so sorry to read that your Zoe passed away last November.I can feel with you. It's not easy to lose an animal what we love. She looks so sweet on this picture!I hope that you have already a new dog. That's the best way to get over.
Nicole!

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 4/3/2007
Nicole -- Thanks so much for your kind words. We miss Zoe so much but cannot get another dog right now. My wife and I both work and we can't see our way clear of trying to raise a pup right now. I will retire in a year and then we will start looking for a dog through friends that do rescue work. We have a cat and we have also fostered a few cats and dogs in the past.
--Best to you, Jan

Maja Godec   {K:11158} 5/10/2007
the grain effect really made this photo so soft..like the dreams your Zoe had..
thank you for sharing..
stay beautiful

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 5/10/2007
Maja -- Thanks so much for your comment about Zoe and her picture. She died this past November and we miss her; she was a great companion and a loving member of our family. She loved to sleep on the rug in front of the television and when she slept she would make little noises in her sleep as if she was dreaming of chasing rabbits or eating a good meal.
--Best to you, Jan

Maja Godec   {K:11158} 5/10/2007
