A very strong image Sarah.
The deeper you look, the more detail becomes apparent! The veins in the eye are an example. They create a little tension and keep the image edgy.

A lovely eye! Deep, strong vision.. bold exposure! Crop could have been just a tiny bit more on the bottom side.. but you are comfortable with the way it is, sin't it!?

Nice shot Sarah, I like the high contrast and deep black in this composition. It is hard to say but may be I would have given it a little more space below the lower eye lid:)
