Why have you turned this into a painting?
Wouldn't it have been better if you had left it untouched?

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/4/2006
Good question, Frank. I am not sure myself, but the straight photo looked really bland. Attached is small copy of the original. I liked the painting effect and it seemed to enhance the foliage and the framing.
Thanks for your comment - you raise an excelelnt question.

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/4/2006
Oops - here is the original.

Frank Verheij   {K:734} 9/4/2006
You could try to enhance the colors in photoshop.

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/4/2006
Thanks; just learning photo editing and it is something I will try. Currently have Photo Impact 11 and am buying Photoshop in the near future.

Trish McCoy   {K:20979} 9/4/2006
very nice art work here. wow you captured her in your backyard. a beautiful site indeed. Looked at your original I think I like that better.

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/4/2006
Thanks, Trish. You are confirming the feedback I got from Frank. When I get a chance I will go back to original and enhance the color and see how it looks. Better not to fool too much with Nature.!
--Regards, Jan

What a beautiful image. The texture makes it so lively and so colourful. Beautiful.

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/7/2006
Mary-- thanks for the comment; I will take your comments as a bit of encouragement to do some more post processing/editing. I will figure this darn stuff out one of these days....

You are very lucky, to have these critters come to you! I use photo impact 10, You might try using the highlight/shadow tool I find in brings out colors well.

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/8/2006
Laura-- Thanks for viewing and commenting. You are the first to tell me they also use Photo Impact. I will look at the highlight/shadow tool soonest. Thanks so much.

Jan, the photo attachment you had is beautiful. Although some will like the painted effect, I feel you did not do justice to this beautiful creature. Since she is a regular visitor I am sure you will be able to get more stunning photos of her and maybe her fawn.....and I am moving to your backyard.

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/11/2006
Marlyce-- Agreed; the concensus is that for me it is best not to mess with Mother Nature. Did I mention that my backyard is where my bassett, Zoe, spends her time relieving herself? :)
Make sure your sleeping back is water proof.

Brenda Guiles   {K:6128} 9/12/2006
Little bit too much postwork here for my liking. The original is much better imo. Looking forward to seeing more deer, wish we had em here like that! :)

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/12/2006
Thanks for the comments, Brenda. I more recently posted the same doe, different pose without any postwork as she looked through our dining room window. I do agree, the approach here was not a success.

I love the painted forrest look, Frank sounds like a real pain to live with...opps for a minute you too sounded married....;)
don't take some of these narrow minded critics to seriously...photography is fun, if you chose it to be...cheers

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 9/15/2006
Thanks, Joe. Weirdly enough, he may be right but..... I gotta figure out what all these effects do and this one seemed to fit the bill and enhance the picture. By the way, just switched from Photo Impact to Photoshop and have to say it is pretty overwhelming. Will keep me off the streets for a while.

Joe Ciccone   {K:3684} 9/15/2006

wow perfect capture! great choice of effect too.. looks very camouflage.

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 10/6/2006
Lara-- thanks so much for commenting; seems like about half of those that commented like the photo without the effect. I like it, as you do and will keep it in my arsenal for future use. I have switched to Photoshop since this picture was posted and I will need find the equiv. effect when I get a chance.
--Regards, Jan

Nacho-- I am so glad you like this photo. Some thought I should have published it without effect but I do like it this way.
Thanks again, Jan

She seems to be saying:"That is far enough, this is my forest."
Such a nice photo.

Alan -- Thanks so much for your comment on my furry friend.
--Best regards, Jan
