About This couple walked far from the pier . . . and enjoyed fishing and the sunset together . . . The sun made funny, warped shapes as it sank . . . and we watched it blink out!

I love the colors of both of the sunsets that you posted. Very different from one another. Love the shades of the purples here. I also like seeing people in sunset images.

Shirley D. Cross   {K:141681} 9/6/2006
I also love the colors of this beauty, Doyle!

Michele Carlsen   {K:133481} 9/6/2006
Beautiful Doyle .... nothing else to say but 'What an Image !'
I do enjoy viewing it ...because it's soo vibrant and still 'tranquil' !

Maybe it's the night life sneaking up on me !

Thanks for sharing ,
Michele~

This is so gorgeous. The strength and the colours. That sea just wonderful. What a sun!

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 9/6/2006
Thanks Lisa . . . I was suprised to see how busy the pier was at this hour so Marny and I stayed well away . . . as did the couple in the picture. Both camera bags got dampened by the 'stupid' surf (well . . . stupid applies here so I'LL decide where to use the term) but the insides weren't wet so the lenses will likely survive. After moving them farther up the beach . . . we became a tad bit sandy. Now we have a bit of cleaning to do before I take caps off ANY lenses! AND . . . the back of our SUV looks like a beach. Thanks for commenting! :)

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 9/6/2006
Uh oh! The night life. I'll let it sneak up on you. I have memories of reckless teenage years T-Peeing Rio Americano HS . . . errrrr . . . I mean . . . engaging in respectable inter-school rivalry activities! :) Cruising downtown's J St. . . . staying up all night . . . Styx . . . sleepin' in till noon....... ( * yawn * ). Oh well, even the memories make me tired now! LoL! Now I do more before 6:00am than most US Marines do ALL DAY! My idea of night life is being awake at 9:00pm - Heheheheee . . . that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Doyle I <~~~~~

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 9/6/2006
Thanks Mary . . . I watched it till it was gone and the colors and it's mishaped disc were changing VERY rapidly. Though it's obvious that it's going to happen . . . the last flicker of it dropping below the horizon always suprises me a bit. I appreciate the comments.

Doyle I <~~~~~

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 9/6/2006
Thanks Robin . . . and my, don't we have a way with words? Maybe I should put together a collage of the sunset showing the entirety . . . a Pace of Peace Piece. Uh oh......uhhhhh . . . gotta run . . . I GOT work to do now! And THANKS for the Idea!! :)

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Wow! You cruised J st. too !!!!!!!! Now that is really a memory I had almost lost until now ! Ha ! How funny....

I'm sure our paths crossed at some point. Remember Barbara Kline aka Barbie Benton ?

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 9/6/2006

Hey Michele . . . Doyle II's obstetrician was Barbie Benton's Dad!! In the office I kinda' raised the ol' eyebrows because of all the photos of her and said something like, wow, guess you're a fan. He smiled and told me she was his daughter! :)

Awesome light, Doyle!! I can sense the mood and the hot air and the fresh waves just by looking at it. MMMMMmmmmmmm! Great composition(an old technique also used in paintings:-)) that takes the spectator up the coastline.
Best wishes,
Annemette

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 9/7/2006
Thanks Annemette! One old painter to another . . . I do get what you mean! I adjusted the light levels on the distant land like I would have had it been a painting. Just light levels though . . . notihing more. :)

mike reed   {K:493} 9/7/2006
hey doyle i lve this shot, did you use a polarizer? these colors are unreal nice job

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 9/7/2006
No Mike . . . no polarizer for this. The 10.5mm fisheye lens does not allow easy use of filters . . . they must be cut (and not glass obviously) and placed between the lens and the camera. It's basically a sunset at the beach.

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Leo Régnier  Я£   {K:62962} 9/8/2006
