About These stones were once a group of twelve on the island of Orkney. There size is quite breathtaking and, despite the modern buildings and cars that affect the view, they still instill a feeling of wonder. I only had colour film with me but knew that the light wasn't right and that I'd have to convert the resultant slide to black and white. I used a two stop soft ND grad filter to keep details in the sky that I could then bring out by burning in the darker patches.

Very well done Barry. The ND filters helped a lot to balance the lighting. Your B&W post processing of the slide was done very well, creating a nice mood with the dark tones against the detail of the clouds. I also like the composition and low angle, making the stones jutting skywards, adding a bit of drama. Regards.
