This seems so colourful and sad. Great capture and angle. Great you got this Annemette.

I remember my hometown looking at this. Laundry hanging out of the balcony, people joking from one balcony to the other, kids run on the streets (after they destroyed yet another window glass with football. ;-))

And here I have to completely disagree (in all respect) with Mary. No! It is not sad! It is chaotic, it is disorganized, it is anything else than planned, but the smiles are loads of sunshine because of that easy life. I simply can't be only objective with such photos, since they are the world I (stupidly) left years ago.

The coloring is similar to the the photo "Let me in", except for the darker green of the railing, which gives a pleasant contrast to the whole view. It would be nice to have some old grandfather on the balcony drinking his espresso after siesta, smiling at the camera, but I assume that they come out when they just want to. No pressure accepted ;-)

As for the composition, it is quite different to what I would try to do (either get only the balcony, or the whole facade), but nonetheless very interesting since it gives more weight to that disordered elements that make up the facade, enhancing that special mediterranean feeling.

Take care and keep it up!

Nick

I did imagine that such a photo would awake memories in you from your hometown. So full of life and lack of order. A good place to be.
I chose to compose it like this because I wanted a photo that gave a feeling of the place as a whole. The imperfect walls, the different windows and the balcony. Still I wanted to tell a story and therefore I focused on the laundry on the balcony.
Warm wishes,
Annemette
