Good choise having this in B/W which emphasizes the boats in the water and creates a certain mood not of solitude but more like a feeling of wanting to conquer the world:-)

Non so se dirtelo, sarei restio, ma devo: a me così com'è piace ! Io penso che l'effetto vagamente acquarello, opaco e uniforme, sia voluto per fare risaltare la solitudine, forse tristezza, contemplativa del soggetto, o almeno a me sembra così.
PS: scorrendo i commenti ho poi visto che Shirley sembra d'accordo con me.

My bias towards B&W photos with human beings that seem to "escape" the scene is very strong, Nicola, and so I have to like this. The geometry might win strength by putting the man closer to the right edge of the photo and thua letting him look "out of the scene". A bit of stronger contrasts could also work better here.
