Very great job been made here, its true that photography is painting with light and you did a great painting here and with very impressive tone, which I did enjoy viewing.

Wishing you all of the best my friend

Nice job all around. Reminds me of certain of my luxagraphic photographs.

Dave Stacey   {K:117507} 9/19/2006
Makes a great abstract, Andre! Very well seen and captured. Who'd have thunk?!
Dave.

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/19/2006
Thanks James,

I had to reply to this one right away. I went to your portfolio and found your "Luxagraphic" prints. I see exactly what you mean. This shot was inspired by a few underwater shots that I have seen on Usefilm. Kes, in particular had one a few weeks ago and I thought I might try to do one. I also visited your portfolio a little while ago and have seen these images before too. There must have been some subliminal influence :)

BTW, I Googled Luxagraphic to see what you were talking about and your comment to this image came up as the first reference :) Go figure.

Thanks Rashed,
I like trying some different things. I will post one more along similar lines.

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/19/2006
Thanks Dave,
I have two of these... this one shows more as an abstract than the other. Although once you know what this is, then you can see the water's surface and realize where the pattern comes from.

Haha! I proclaim myself King of Luxagraphia.

Actually, I coined the term. But who's keeping track? Feel free to use it liberally. Just don't forget to send me royalties.

Keep up the good work.

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/20/2006
James,

I have donated 15 Luxagrapholian dollars to your Usefilm account. :) The cheque is in the mail ;)

Andre, I thought those are underwater elf hairs. Frankly I have never seen any mermaid in Madawaska River, and the hairs should be golden anyway.
Cool wavy picture, great abstract expresion - and truly I've seen no elves there either. Cheers, NJ

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/20/2006
Hi Andrzej,
Next you will be telling us there is no Tooth Fairy :)
Andre

Kes     {K:18398} 9/20/2006
Hi Andre, this of course has a luxagraphical feel to it. ;)

I would have guessed that this was some kind of light on water. Grass, eh? ;) It does look like hair in the water, and the blue tinting is - COOL!

Kes

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/20/2006
Hi Kes,
I think I told you that I had a few images that were similar to a couple you had in your portfolio. (underwater scenes) I just got around to trying a couple last night. This one is a bit abstract, and a lot of people might not be able to guess what it is at first. This is where the About comes in handy.
This is one of those images that I think really suffers with the small thumbnail images.

Excellent natural patterning in this lovely abstract study my dear Andre and I love the toning to this, it looks wonderful. I look forward to your next post. BTW...I love those shots of the tennis stars you posted whilst I was 'off' site......excellent stuff my friend. My very best wishes to you as always.....Ray:)

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/23/2006
Thanks Ray,
I'll be off for a few days... Boston and Cape Cod. Should have something to post out of that :)
Thanks for visiting again.
I figured the tennis stars could go up for the US Open. Maybe I'll do some more for next year's Wimbledon:)

Partha:) :)

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 9/26/2006
Hi Andre,

looks like the hair of the bride of Frankenstein (Elsa Lanchester) =) (if you know this movie)

great abstract.

Thilo

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/28/2006
Thanks once again Partha.
I appreciate your comments!

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/28/2006
Hi Thilo,
Yes... I know exactly what you mean! :) Also a similar hair style was used in the Mel Brooks comedy "Young Frankenstein"

Hi Andre,

it's great to have a guy here with the same strange sense of humour =)

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 9/30/2006
Hi Thilo,
Having a sense of humour is sometimes a very under-rated quality. :)
Sometimes we take ourselves much too seriously and have to take a step back and relax a bit.
Andre

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 10/4/2006
wise words, wise words my friend =)

Ron Wilson   {K:18161} 10/19/2006
Cool shot. Seems to be the topic of the day..painting with light is an old phrase. Like it and will try to paint with the moon or an equally bright street light one day or night. regards Ron.

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 10/20/2006
Thanks Ron,
Thanks for visiting and commenting!
The light streaming through the gentle rolling waves are what cause that Painting with light effect, I think? I've seen some done with moonlight on water as well.

A very suggestive photo with lots of beauty due to the grass and light waves. The title is very fitting:-)
Best wishes
Annemette

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 1/18/2007
Thanks Annemette!
Especially for going back in my portfolio to find this one. It's nice when people go back through our images to pick one out that hasn't been heard of for a while. :)
Andre

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55401} 1/18/2007
Youīre welcome, Andre:-) I couldnīt help fall for it as it reminds me of scenes from Lord of the Rings. You seem to keep on making such inspirational images without even intending to do so:-)
Best wishes
Annemette

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 1/19/2007
Thanks Annemette,
I couldn't ask for more than one of my images to remind someone of the mood of that wonderful book (or movie)!

Thanks for your support.
You might like this one too. I was going to post this right after the one above as a little set, but changed my mind. The colours are much bolder, but the theme is similar.

Lady In The Water

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55401} 1/19/2007
Hi Andre
The cropped photo is appealing, but in another way. Itīs not full of mystery and so narrative as the B/W one. Itīs fresh with good light and colours and gives me a sense of a secluded area where the waterbeings can live in peace.
Itīs interesting, how much a motive differs accordingly to minor changes in crop and tones.Best wishes
Annemette

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 1/22/2007
Hi Annemette,
I felt similar to you in this regard. The one in colour is a different image though, not a different crop. But, I think that one came out more of a nature shot than a fantasy image like this one. This one definitely leaves much more to the imaginagion. That's a good thing sometimes :)
Andre

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55401} 1/23/2007
Dear Andre
Amazing that the two photos are similar in the sense that you did no cropping of the B/W! That only shows how much a photo can change by means of tones and light. Iīm a great fan of suggestive photos like this one that lets one imagination run free:-)
Best wishes
Annemette

Andre Denis   {K:56377} 1/24/2007
Thanks Annemette,
I try to do my share of images that leave something to the imagination. I find there is a fine line that we can sometimes cross over. If too much is left to intrepret, a lot of people will by pass the image not being bothered to find something in it.
On the other hand an image might touch some people in ways that you don't expect. :)
Andre

Roger Skinner   {K:63298} 6/14/2008

Thanks again Roger.
