About A photo I took of a good friend“s dog while it was sitting in front of the farmwall - I really liked the black and white repeating itself in different ways

With the region arounf the shining eye of Jolly as the only exception, a very strong one! Indeed the patterns of black and white are so rich in details and so strong in contrasts. Even the texture of the black wood is strong in contrast though it is a contrast of dark and... dark!

I don't know exactly what would happen if you would correct the exposition, say, 1/3 up. I guess that the region around the eyes of Jolly would have more detail, but I also guess that the strong dark constrasts would be not so strong then. It was the best possible way to capture this, I think, and the result is a great B&W.

Take care,

Nick

Great way of putting the B&W- you are so right. Annemette, this dog is gorgeous- a real one! Can see it running about wildly.

Hi Annemette,

Nahh ! This wasn't really an accident was it ? I mean it's too perfect of a BG ! It doesn't matter cause Jolly looks quite jolly and a neat sparkle in his eye! Very nice work my friend.

Best wishes,
Michele~

Thanks Mary. Yes, a cute and fast dog that you must see many of in the British countryside?
Take care,
Annemette

Noooo not an accident, Michele - a photo;-))) Just kidding. It actually was a quick shot while he was sitting down. I could see the great contrast in B/W which is why I hurried up taking this. Thank you for your comment:-)
Best wishes,
Annemette

The benefit of systematic approach ;-)

Naaaaa, I just find it great B&W and so I should also say why.

Keep it up,

Nick

I like the textures and patterns in this photo, and even the lighting, but I think the dog's face should have been lighter, his face is too dark and the details are lost... but this is still a good composition. I like the textures of the rocks (?) at the bottom.
