About This image (7584) was shot in Ballard's El Matador on 16 August 2006.

The subject is a hanging lamp contained in a glass globe. I have modified the colors in this luxagrhaphic photograph by adjusting the Levels to produce the specific colorations here. To see the original colorations, have a look at this similar photograph in my luxagraphic collection:

Perfect timing, control and exposure. Great effect, it truly looks like a jellyfishy :^)

I really like the blue aura.

Excellent!

Francisco

James Cook   {K:37167} 9/24/2006
Shirley - Thanks.

James Cook   {K:37167} 9/24/2006
Thanks, Roger. What's a hanging lap?

James Cook   {K:37167} 9/24/2006
Francisco - Thank you. The blue aura is a product of the changing levels. Before I adjusted the levels the colors were much more uniform. You can see several of these jellyfish without the levels work in another photograph I have posted here (the address is in the About above). See you around.

Shirley D. Cross   {K:143468} 9/24/2006

All fixed.

James Cook   {K:37167} 9/24/2006
Angela - Thanks. That means a lot. It was a lot of work getting the shot right (I took dozens on several trips). Getting the colors just so was a lot easier.

Hi James,
It definitely reminds me of some of those shots you see from the depths of the ocean. Nice job with the levels.

Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:99712} 5/15/2007
Even better than the other jellyfishes, James! Such a shot clearly demonstrates mental power of vision, and manual control of the camera, both things being indispensable for good photography.

Especially the blueish glow in which the "jellyfish" seems to swim, enhance the look and feel of a very strange and foreign world, down there in the deep sea.

Nick

James Cook   {K:37167} 5/15/2007
Nick - Thanks. I work hard to get shots. I probably shot a couple of dozen trying to get this one just right.

Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:99712} 5/15/2007
Which is readily visible on the photos you post, James. One can really see that you shoot much and post much less than you shoot. (As it should be.)

Nick

James Cook   {K:37167} 5/16/2007
Too true.
