Mia,
Hostas taken outside my front door, bright morning sun, left dark shadows so in working in photoshop with contrast/brightness got the unusual purple tint, it worked for me and made a nice contrast with green of the veins and sunny hosta leaf. Mystery solved and thanks for asking.
Was born and raised in Racine, WI; large Danish community... viva la kringle!!!
