About Taken in different light, actually it was raining...drizzling. Also taken with my Canon Powershot. I enhanced the colors after being inspired by the stunning work of Tim Schumm...http://www.usefilm.com/photographer/51717.html

ha-ha well thanks for the kudos....hey I like the mood. it really brings out the deep color and emotional perspective...sorry to hear about your partner I hope he is getting better soon. Makes one think how close the unexpected is at all times. Better do what is important to you now.

Cheers, Tim

Haha..I know this doesn't hold a candle to your work but I'm paying attention to those factors that I mentioned in my last comment on your post...thanks for your words...things are improving slowly, and without being able to do photography, I'd go crazy. I am truly inspired by your work...:) Cheers, Linda

So to answer your question about the process I don't go to crazy with PS mostly because I am lazy.....so I just shoot tons of photos(easier and more fun them PS) and sort through it later hoping to catch the good one from a huge pile. I am no genius photog....my method would work with a trigger happy monkey. The talent I tell myself is picking the right one out of hundreds to spend a bit of time developing the raw elements I perceive into a cohesive image.
Mostly I crop to get the right composition trying to leave only what is important to support the focus and the a bit of levels work in various areas but not to much as it gets grainy. then apply a bit of saturation by the individual color. and presto frame and submit to the wolves out on usefilm.

I have looked a bit on your port and will take the time to see more but at the moment I have a art show I am painting for due in a few days so I am being moody and pressured...not the best time to talk. lol. But I see you are talented with a camera and would be interested in seeing more in the near future.

Cheers, tim

For drizzling rainy weather it came out very nice with beautiful colors and light. Similar days in my place turn out grey pictures :-( So you should be pleased with this result. Hugs, Rob.

Thank you I look forward to sharing with you...good luck on the art show, not that you need it, you're paintings are awesome. I'd love to hear how that came about as well, but no rush, when you have time. I'm on my way over to your port now...LOL..don't feel like you have to comment back, I know what it's like to be busy...:) Cheers, Linda

Dave Stacey   {K:120491} 9/25/2006
Nice saturated colour, Linda! The sky looks a little grainy, something that can be easily fixed with a program like neat image. (www.neatimage.com)
Dave.

Linda Bique   {K:74033} 9/25/2006
Thanks Dave :) You know I noticed that after I uploaded it too, you're right it does look noisy/ grainy. It was drizzling a bit at the time, so I wondered if that had anything to do with it, and I took it with my Canon Powershot not sure about exposure on that, I haven't used it in awhile, I'll have to get out the manual and read about it, but I also played with colors and may have inadvertently added some noise too. I think I'll run the original through Neat Image and check it out, then of course, I'll be upset if it fixes it and I didn't catch that before I posted it...LOL..thanks again for your wonderful comments Dave, very much appreciated...:) Linda

Hahahaha...well at least you're humble. I too like to do most of the work in the camera. And I take lots of pictures too and look for the best ones. I kind of take the same approach to post processing as you do but haven't worked with the colors as much, but today I am. I posted another cityscape using those techniques again, and I rather like it. I use raw conversion too but I'm never sure that I'm doing exactly what I should be doing in that program, maybe after your art show you can give me some pointers. I have to get off of here for now. Physical Therapy resumes in the morning. My weeks are killer these days...talk to you again soon...:) Linda

Wow! It's amazing the difference between the two shots, isn't it? The diffence in light completely changes the saturation and mood of it. I think the noise is probably the web conversion. Subtle gradients (especially in skies) can suffer when being reduced in resolution. It's a challenge. However, in this shot it doesn't bother me and actually looks like the drizzle of rain you mentioned.

Thank you so much for mentioning Tim's work. I am so blown away by his portfolio. What incredible landscapes he has. Makes me want to move to Canada and start doing some hiking. His work is definitely inspiring. I especially love the wonderful DoF, color saturation and clarity of his shots. You've done a great job of emulating that in this shot, Lin. Monsterous HUGS to you missy ~R

Paolo Corradini   {K:52824} 9/25/2006
nice colors and light again..i like the unusual orange and yellow colors fot his buildings .)

Linda Bique   {K:74033} 9/25/2006
I thought it was pretty amazing too, the difference in the mood. I played with the saturation too, and I wondered if that added some noise too, which would be odd, I think you might be right about the upload because I didn't see it before that either that or the drizzling rain.

Glad you took a look at Tim's work, it's pretty amazing. Yes he has some wonderful views and captures them well. Your work is pretty incredible and inspiring as well. Monster hugs back at ya mister...:) Linda

Peter Margetic   {K:2072} 9/26/2006
