Cute expression of interest on her face. Photo could use a tiny boost in brightness and contrast.

Wonderful to see the pictures and I think throught the pictures. But most of all great to see her face and expression!

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55401} 9/26/2006
Thanks Mary. One should think that my child was used to watching photograps but by the look of her I think not:-))"What are we doing in this place when there“s a fun ride and candy floss out there"??

Sweet Anna Sophie looks like a small intruder/stranger on this one. The unsharp focus at her her and the shapr focus at the background let the child appear as if not really belonging to the scene. The great difference of coloring between here and the background together with her alerted look makes that feeling even stronger.

Almost a visitor from some other place and time.

Very very well seen and done, Annemette!

Best wishes,

Nick

Thank you:-) Did you not see the legs either?! No one seems to notice them, not even the sharplooking mathematician!:-)

Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:97514} 9/28/2006
Indeed! Ha! The sharp looking mathematician was caught unprepared! Shame on me! :-D

But do they play such a big role? Isn't it more that atmosphere of the unknown that attracts attention? Hmmm...

I covered the legs with black color and the image... did it lose anything of that suspence? I can't really say. It seems as if they would indeed play a role? Anybody opinions?

Thank you for opening my eyes Annemette!

Nick

P.S.: And as we know, mathematicians will always be glad to have puzzling thoughts ;-)

Legs covered with black

Annemette Rosenborg Eriksen   {K:55401} 9/28/2006
Dear Nick
Even the most perceptive, detailorientated persons can be blind:-)I prefer the legs like this because they add something ekstra to Anna Sophie“s look. Nobody seems to have noticed the title"Who“s there?":-) Thanks for commenting again, Nick. You“re very kind.

Nick Karagiaouroglou   {K:97514} 9/28/2006
Dear Annemette,

indeed they can be blind! Though the perception of the blindness of somebody is also a... perception :-) Oh no, maths again! ;-)

After looking for a longer time at both images, I can say that the legs add something, but it is not something that I perceive consciously. I did notice the title, since a title is an integrated part of a photo. But for me it was her expression that had to do with the title more than anything else. This is why I made the comment with the visitor from somewhere - I interpet herself to be the "who's there", or at least one of the "who's there".

The legs add a special kind of activity, or noise to the photo if you like, that I don't focus to when I observe her expression, but which I nonetheless *do* see with the "corner of my eye". An optical source of additional anxiety, uneasy feeling, you name it.

Even with identical perceptions the interpretations may vary. Which of course is *the* engine of arts since it drives such interesting discussions and mind exchange.

Keep it up!

Nick
