John this is powerful!
I like the broad sweeping feel and the balanced exposure you achieved here.

Joggie van Staden   {K:41676} 9/27/2006
Lovely sky and shoreline, great composition. My only critique would be that the contrast is a tad harsh but that's me splitting hairs! Excellent work as always John! Kind regards.
Joggie
(How are you John? Been a while since we visited each others portfolio - excellent uploads the last few months my friend! Whish I had more time!)

Beautiful reflection on the sand and water, John! I like the vertical orientation here, too. Great sunrise/set shot!
Dave.

A beautiful sunset pic, John. Looks good in the portrait format, too. I did recently see a critique of a similar photo in a magazine and the judges suggested kneeling down and making the small stones more of a feature. Seemed like a good idea but I have yet to get the chance to try it out myself. Cheers, Ann.

This is gorgeous. Love the warmth and the length of this image.

I love the sky, the clouds, the light and the different level of waves in the sea. IMHO the dark foreground occupies a too important space in the composition. I would have prefered more 2/3 for the sky---especially with this light and these clouds--- and 1/3 for the beach in fg. This is just the way I personnaly feel it. Attached is what I took this evening on Geneva Lake.

beautifully captured..... nice work.. the horizon looks a bit tilted but love the colors

Thanks for You comment Roland!I actually have some different views of this same sunrise with less foreground. I got more favorable comments on this than any of the others. I like the feel and mood of Your photo! In Yours the sky dominates the photo and I was trying to show more of the entire shoreline. Thanks again!..............John

You had a grand time on this morning taking gorgeosu shots. I hope the est of your day was aas bight and cheerful. I love the way you have shown us the whole length of the shoreline. It gives this a lot of depth and a going on forever feeling. I love it.

Nice lighting and colours. Like the suns reflection in the sand. The horizon needs a tweek. I would also consider cropping a fraction off the bottom. Well taken.

Leonie Fitzpatrick   {K:40551} 10/24/2006
John... I like the long shoreline... Creates a very real visual depth... The reflections on the wet sand, just a hint of texture with the shells, movement of the waves... The tone suits the city skyline... Granted the sky is beautiful, but for me, that sweep along the shore takes us to that very glow that creates such a view... I prefer this as a total package...:)

A slight arbitary on the horizon...

Onie...

Hey, John remember me? I amcsorry that it has been so long. Life has a way of interfering with our hobbies. This is a glorious picture. It draws me right into the glorius scene. Wonderful lighting and composition.
