About I go on reducing the dimentions of the subjects: first the mountains, then the forests, now the people that live in the Alps. I start with a typical mountain woman ... of wood. It is surprising how many and how good artistic wood craftsmen there are among the rough highlanders.

Complimenti.

A great find this is. The composition is wonderful as you imagine that this is a real woman gazing out her window. What a fun suprise to learn that this is not a real woman afterall. Splendid, wonderful detail.

Yes, it is surprising how many artists, and real good ones, you will find out there, doing their work in peace and quiet, without even thinking of taking part in any "get widely known" mechanisms. They do what they do for their own creative mind, and that's at least a very sincere approach. Some of them, like for example E. L. Kirchner, did get widely known, but not so much out of the own wish.

A very simple photo at first glance, but if one takes a look again, it reveals the same attitude as that of those isolated artists. The old woman sees much more than she talks about. The impression and the following silent thoughts are stronger than the verbal expression. But not stronger than the expression in her face. What might she be looking at? The next winter coming? Shadows approaching? Some magical scene that reminds her of times past? On this photo it is not so important what she looks at, but how! Her painting like appearance makes that even stronger, but stronger in silence. And as we know, the real power lives in quietness.

The mountains and the flowers themselves are of course wonderful but only when a living being perceives them. Even if it is a piece of arts made out of wood.

7+

Right Nick, they create only for themselves. So I often find a lonly little house lost in a faraway side of the mountain with a simple arrow near the door and the sign: "Exposition". No one enter, no one buy but he goes on curving wood, for whom if not for themself?
Thanks for you beautiful comments Nick. Take care.

Giuseppe

For whom if not for thenmself? Perhaps the only true reason to create, Giuseppe!

Ciao,

Nick
