About A last parting with summer, taken from my kayak in the Georgia Straits this summer. Only a warm memory now as I scape frost from my windshield, a place where you can warm your soul against the bitter chill of a winter aproaching.

Gorgeous warming image. I love the way the diagonal cloud drapes right across the middle of the sun, makes it look extraterrestrial. Lovely choppy reflection.
We have barely hit spring here and our bushfires have struck with a vengeance. They don't usually start til January. Winter gave us a miss this year, and with five years of drought behind us, and the temperature 6 degrees above normal, life could get interesting.
Fortunately for us this area is more grassland and orchards, bushfires aren't really a threat, but I don't want to speak too soon. We are quite enjoying these 30 degree days. Happy Frost Scraping! CC

As I sit here with newly arrived 48 degree temp and rain, I feel warmer for viewing this (optimistically) titled photo. Beautiful in detail, color and tone: thanks for the warm imagery.
-Best regards, Jan

What an amazing shot Chris, the colour is so dramatic. I just wonder why I wasn't in the kayak with you! Next time I will be ! Fantastic! just like the endless summer!

Thanks Cathy, I figured you would like that one. Our forest fires often contribute to grand sunsets too painting the sky orange.

Jan, always console yourself....48 degrees is balmy, current temperature as I write this -2C which would be about 28F. :)

Mary Jane, Our provincial slogan is "The best place on earth to live" and it is on such evenings that it is easy to agree. Thanks for the comments

Why thank you Giuseppe......I will have to keep my eye pealed for winter scenes next!

Chris Sitter   {K:1765} 10/10/2006
Its a little tricky taking your shots from the kayak in the sea......note the slightly tilted waterline........hard to keep a perfect horizon while bouncing!
