Kes,

Very nice! The angle is perfect, and pulls the colors around so well. The DOF works so well with lack of detail in the images, and helps fold all the colors together, and keep the interest balanced in the image.

very well done! Congrats on the BIP! well deserved in a very difficult project.

cheers,
-joel

Thanks Karina!

...sometimes there are patterns, and not just in photos...

:)

Kes     {K:18269} 10/8/2006
Thanks Joel! This is rotated 90 degrees right from the way it was taken. I couldn't decide...left, right, or "straight". Finally, It occurred to me that most people read from right to left, and as rotated, that started the viewer with the out of focus area of the shot, and led them to the most defined area. My hope was to give attention to those nice colors in the out of focus area, and your comment confirms the effectiveness! Thank you for commenting!
All the best,
Kes

Kes     {K:18269} 10/8/2006
Thanks txules, glad you like it!

I had some practice on this shot with my Rolleicord, but that was with B&W film, and hasn't been developed yet...and I'm fairly certain that this shot is best in color...

Peace, my friend,
-Kes

...............CONGRATULATIONS....................

A well deserved BIP Kes. The reflected colours in the glass are so beautiful my friend and the composure and bold crop are just stunningly superb. I have read some of your replies to comments and it is obvious that a lot of thought went into this abstract study. Well done to you Kes. My very best wishes to you as always......Ray

Jinggoy Montenejo   {K:7350} 10/15/2006
Congratulations on BIP award Kes! Very deserving! I like the wild colors you captures here - never heard of a Hemingray glass insulator before!

It's the photo that matters here :-) Great capture.

Re your question on the sensor - i guess you'd probably burn your eyes first before the sensor if you point at the sun too long. I've only done this only very early morning, just after sunrise or just before sunset and if there's a slight haze around. It's typically only for a few seconds at a time. Won't dare try it during mid-day sun.

Dave Arnold   {K:55603} 10/15/2006
Very nicely accomplished abstract and well presented for the glass project. Congratulations on the award, well deserved. I failed miserably on that project, but hey.

You sure got some great colors in this, well done in the reflections.

Best wishes,
Dave

Michele Carlsen   {K:129573} 10/17/2006
WOW!!!!! All the many brilliant colors and reflections ! This is a winner! Congratulations Kes !

Michele~

Tim  Schumm   {K:26939} 10/17/2006
Hi Kes, your D80 is pumping out some good shots already. the color and clarity is astounding and well worth the award, Congrats! Hey have you got the 18-200mm yet? i am interested in that lens as well and was hoping you could let me know how you like it.

Cheers,
Tim

Kes     {K:18269} 10/18/2006
Thanks Tim, unfortunately, the 18-200 hasn't come in yet. Mine has been back-ordered for about 2 months now...I'm second on the list, and the dealer has no idea when Nikon will ship. I think Amazon has some...it appears you will have to pay a premium to get one now.

Good luck! :)
Kes

Orazio Minnella   {K:46645} 10/18/2006
Best compliment for the BIP

Marija Ristic   {K:5066} 10/19/2006
A well deserved award, as the result is stunning! looks like a modern Art painting, I love the warm dynamic colours. The curvy lines are great eye teasers.
Opened and read the link about critiquing in your intro. Laughed a lot! :))))))
thanx!
Marija:)

Mary Slade   {K:40918} 10/20/2006
