About Flowers blooming on the Prarie Spirit Trail. I'd appreciate your votes for the most successful composition. I tried shooting this with a manual lens, and out of 50 shots I thought these were the best. Varying degrees of DOF from changing F-Stop and focus.

More DOF shows off the two flowers symettrically arranged behind the main flower.

Option 2

A third to choose from - middle amount of DOF with background flowers.

Option 3

A nice idea! A little rainbow! :)

IMHO you decided on the worst image of those three.
Petals are overexposed. The best is Option 2.
I add the image converted in my newly invented way ;)
Details on petals are nicely visible and DOF is still nice.

I forgot to add that it wasnt impossible with the main image.. too bright light on petals.
Of course we could crop Option 2 image.

ops, wrong crop file added above

I think you have something there.

It's better, but still lacks that glow you have in your shots. Are you using a 105 mm Sigma macro lens? There's some great Bokeh.

better?

narabia     {K:9560} 10/9/2006
yes, better :)

I just bought a 150mm Sigma 2.8
So sharp and quiet, focusing from 38cm/15in!!!

and sometimes with a borrowed 105mm Nikkor-DC 2.0 and Nikon 50mm 1.4 (both for portraits and also flowers)

Yellow filter applied - gives a nice pop.

I like what you did - here is the addition of glow in Picasa to fuzz it up a bit.

How romantic!
