About A moon shot taken with my 300mm (Handheld). Just because everyone needs a moonshot. Plus . . . our astronauts landed at Tranquility base in the Sea of Tranquility (middle right dark area of the three connected dark circle areas) and it seems appropriate for the current project.

Tricky to get anything other than a shiny disc . . . one needs to dramatically under expose and then, once in a 'blue moon' . . . you can get a good shot! :)

A good moon, Doyle;-)) No, now I´m teasing again, sorryyyyyyy! It´s hard to get a good shot of the moon. This one is very clear. In a way it reminds me of the lamp from Muppet Show that the puppets were dancing underneath. 1 2 3 and around.:-)
Best wishes,
Annemette

Sam Graziano III   {K:14001} 10/9/2006
Hi Doyle, I can send you a tutorial and exposure guid to shooting the moon(LoL) no pun intended.

This has all the makings of a good wall hanging.
I have shots on my wall from all stages of the moon and ps'd them together.
Your works gives us all something to strive for and try to get to that level of ability. Thanks for always raising the bar and continue to shoot and share your awesome work my friend.

Best Regards

Sam Graziano III

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 10/10/2006
Hey Sam . . . Thanks for the exposure guide offer. On full manual . . . I was trying to get a capture of the cloud shrouded moon that looked awesome. Did you notice the lack of clouds? LoL! That's because each change in cloud cover required either shutter speed or aperture changes and by the time I got it down . . . Ta DAH!!!! NO clouds! Hehehehee . . . Oh well. I think every photog needs a good landscape . . . a moonshot . . . and a bee / butterfly shot sooner or later. Shazam . . . a checkmark! :)

Regards from your friend,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Doyle D. Chastain   {K:99839} 10/10/2006

"When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie...
That's just Doyle eating supper...
When the world seems to shine like you've had too much wine...
That's just Doyle tipping the vino"...hehehe

Impressed with what the handheld 300mm can do and can relate way better to it than to that 1200mm one Hakan uses :)

Like how you framed shot leaving more negative space below...the inside turquoise border is appealing,too...my first impression of seeing images of our moon at this phase is always that it looks like a cantaloupe....well,it does!

I also love the Blue Moon version by Lady Day...now that be some "sanging" don't cha' know?!

peace,GG
(tell bonnie n' clyde,bubba n' the gang a big cowpie hell'o from moi....bahahahaaaa)

Hey GG!

Hmmmmm . . . Do I detect an accent?? Somehow the words seem different when you sing 'em though being serenaded does stroke the ol' ego a tad . . . :)

I have decided to use a 300mm and a 3x filter and a magnifying glass so that I can take a picture of a moon rock on the surface . . . HAH! That should top ol' Hakan's BILLION plus kilometer away shot! And mine will be taken by me!!! Heheheheee . . . ;)

And I totally get the cantaloupe 'thingee' (It's a tech term) . . . though I always picture an orange.

Did a UF search and could find no Lady Day. In fact, it might interest you to know there are only four Ladys on UF in ALL!! Heheheheee!

By the way . . . GG? (pronounced Gigi)? Ginger Grant? Genius's Groupie? Hmmmmmm . . . interesting. :)

Doyle I <~~~~~

LOL...perhaps not a jazzman,eh? "Lady Day" is one name given to the infamous Billie Holiday...and she does a smokin' version of the "Blue Moon" song

GG stands for "Gypsy Gayle"...came about either 2004 or 2005 on UF when i left com to Kevin Collier about me being a "roadside gypsy"...a few friends reduced it to "GG"....but i like "Gorgeous Genius",too...hehehe
peace,baby!.....GG

(my inbox is swamped with UF msgs.tonight and i'm guessing they were the missing ones not being rec'd for last few days now...i haven't posted since July,so doubt they are coms..LOL)
