Hi Dave,
Elaine and the canoe are well framed in this image - the shore and the reflection on the water creates a natural frame around them. Also, capturing her with her back to you gives an impression of contemplation.
The finish also adds to the tranquil mood. Although I like the B&W, a soft focus colored approach would also have worked IMHO. But definitely good composition on this Dave.

SNOW! ALREADY!! Oh wow Dave, I am never sure whether to envy you or sympathise over this kind of news.
You have taken a lovely shot here full of calm and serenity that fits well into the current project. The conversion to these delightful tones looks beautiful and the setting with the rippled water looks great. I love your partner's pose as she wistfully gazes accross the water perhaps wishing it was the start of the canoe season rather than the end. Well done to you my friend, a lovely piece of work.
