I usually dislike B&W conversions for scenery, I love color!!! The conversion works exceptionally well with this photo. It seems more powerful and the sence of flow strikes one in the face. Much more dramatic. Facinating how one can take one picture and change it so drastically. Don't you just love PS?

Hey Phil,
You forced me to scroll quite a bit down until I found a photo I might something useful to say about, even though I think the double awards say it all....:)
The Anvil Filter is quite powerful, and even though you can apply it to various types of photos, I think its use with such a landscape is the most suitable I can think of. It really creates a very powerful atmosphere. I could argue that the atmosphere is a bit forced as it relies too strongly on the photo, and isn't there in the original, thus overly used, which I usually don't care for, but I think I have to revise that priciple... It really works well here.
Hope you see what I mean - If the original is as good as the others from that series, with the subtle toning, maybe such a fierce filter isn't necessary, but the result is undisputably excellent. I really like the mood you induced.
The best part is probably, that in this case, the mood isn't forced at all, which is quite an achievement, next to the artistic approach in post treatment. Very well done!
