About Another view of the Sossusvlei dunes just before sunset, taken from about 200meter in a Gyrocopter.

A Gyrocopter is an open, mini-helicopter, you sit in the backseat (in tandem), the average speed is about 150km/hour and one have to shelter oneselve against the wind by hiding behind the back of the pilot. The wind is so strong that you have to hold onto the camera very well to prevent it from flying through the air (lost a few lensecaps in the process). I used the 50mm Nikkor for max lens opening but opted for ISO 200 on the D70 for best results/lowest noise. The light was very low and deteriorated from 1/1,500sec when we lifted to about 1/100sec when the sun set - all within about 20 minutes. One unforgettable experience.

Lucky you :) so beautiful and amazing scene, I think if there is a chance to be flying hot air balloon will be more comfortable especially for aerial photos, that is for the slow speed.
Super

If this picture were not your I woul bet that was created in PS. The colours are unbilievable, the shapes made on the dunes seems designed. A beautiful image Joggie.
Ciao.

Superb colours here, Joggie! What a great way to see the countryside, too! A very nice composition, taking full advantage of a great lighting situation and the great perspective of being airbourne.
Dave.

Hi dear Joggie,

This view makes me :). I like the composition you chose and those wonderful colours. Beautiful and excellent landscape, specially when I consider the circumstances in which you shot this warm view. Well seen and done, Joggie.

Greetz and wish you and yours all the best,
Albert

And one unforgetable photo in such an unusual coloring! The earth seems to be shining, Joggie! Add the extremely big amount of details and you have another scene that remains in mind! And that from a gyrocopter - wow!

Is that the natural color of the earth there, Joggie, or does it result out of the combination of the color of sunlight and the natural color of the earth? But on the other hand, any color of any object under the sunlight can only be natural!

Keep it up,

Nick

Great shot, Joggie, and especially liked the narrative which unfortunately lots of folk leave off. Enjoyed your portfolio greatly. Cheers.
