Wonderful work Ray . . . and a great dedication. I am curious how you lit this one. Side reflector and black cloth backdrop? It certainly worked to make this image snap out of the common and into the Ray style! Wondrous color and detail . . . (sigh) . . . someday I'll get that down pat!

In answer to the question, this was a piece of black card placed behind and taken in our large conservatory where I can control the light flow with the many window and roof blinds. This is where I manage to take some of my people and pet shots especially when the later attempt to work with me:):) Best wishes to you my friend.......

Hi Ray,
And yes, it's been a very long time, indeed :).
There has actually been one big change in my life (I've met the man of my dreams) and although I'm still in love with photography, there is this other priority now.
Concerning your picture, everything has already been said. Composition, light, details etc are all perfect, as usual!
But what I like best is this black background which adding a complementary elegance to the flower...great!!!!

Oh Andre, many thanks my dear friend, you are very kind, too kind. I am an emotive person and I feel very close to lots of people I may never meet and yet I feel I know them so well. For those that have health setbacks in their lives my heart is heavy for them and there is nothing useful that I (or anyone on UF) can do except to share hope, send best wishes and will their medical teams to great success. Twice I thought I was going to lose my own lovely wife so I know only to well of the anguish and worry that behests the patients and their families in any similar situation, it can be awful.
I'm cheating just now.....I have a quiet period here at work hence the reply but I still have several hours of my night shift to complete before I get back home. Once again, many thanks my friend, 'see' you again soon. Very best wishes to you......Ray

This is so beautiful, it doesn't even look real! It's perfect. The colors are wonderful! I just love the red. The composition is superb! I love how the stem enters the photo and then how the curved petal on the left draws the eye through the photo. Great job on this one my friend!

Thank-you so much Lynn, I appreciate the visit. I have had a brief visit to your own portfolio and you have a wonderful range of 'photoart' floral abstracts. I have never done this kind of work myself and I just 'play' with CS2 in a minimalistic way. Unfortunately the penalty is that I am not qualified to critique abstacts and photoarts unless they have a magical little buzz that sets me alight. I saw artwork of yours that did just that.
