Wow Paul, thanks soooo much for the fantastic comment. As you can tell by the number of these I have posted I have developed quite a taste for them, I hope not to go overboard on them tho' and bore everyone with 'another one of THOSE' shots!! LOL Am happy you like them as much as I do,
smiles, Bek
p.s. am still waiting for my windmill!!! :)

Robin Wickenkamp   {K:16383} 10/23/2006
Hey giraffe girl...

A BIP for your great work...suddenly I don't feel bad! I guess being Frank isn't so bad after all...hehehe

Love the composition and of course the effect! I hope you plan to print and hang this, it IS an excellent family portrait. A good one to pass on to those wonderful parents who blessed you with such artistic talent.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Hugs back to you Bek...Robin

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 10/23/2006
Oh Robin....LOLOLOL... I had planned on printing and framing this to go on the wall of shame, asked DH (Darling Husband) what he thought of the shot...he said, and I quote...'yeah, good'.. so I said 'OK, what's that mean?' he replied by saying it reminded him of the intro credits to an 80's American sitcom...one with Michael J. Fox in it!!! OH NO!!!! A Family Ties Portrait!! Thus it has been ruined for me...but I had the last laugh when I got the Award Notification. HA! FamilyTies...I think NOT!! (well OK, it does look like that, I admit) LOLOLOL
thanks for your extra special comment and the great advice on the original, owe you one!!
hugs, Bek :)))

Dave Arnold   {K:55580} 10/31/2006
Wow. I have no idea how you did this... I'm in awe! This is fabulous, Rebecca. And well deserving of the award, so let me congratulate you.

Not only is the post-processing great, but the posing of all of you is just... perfect.

Best wishes
Dave

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 10/31/2006
Hia again Dave, thanks for the fantastic comment, am very pleased that you like this. If you look at image #2,'A SECOND LOOK'...you will see a comment by me to Ann explaining the technique used to get this effect.
It is really easy if you have some editing software, sometimes a little fiddly in parts, but I think it is worth the effort...now go to bed!!!!
cheers, B
p.s. if you want anymore info on this style give me a shout, B

Dave Arnold   {K:55580} 10/31/2006
Ahh, okay, this is the same thing I did with the window photo that you commented on, adjust in levels. So, instead of going to sleep, I found something suitable to play with. Here's my "quick results"... I know it would need a lot more work...but...

The only thing I don't understand about this photo (four) is the hair on everybody looks nearly untouched in the changes... Especially your glasses..

Thnaks,
Dave

just a tryout

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 10/31/2006
Hey there again Dave,
when I adjust the levels I don't take them too far up, a lot of the work is done with the dodge tool to get rid of the rest of the grey patches, also some cloning in the hard to get to places.
I also burn the darker features, hair, eyes, mouths etc to give them some definition, after the rest of the work is done.
Hope that helped some,
happy days, Bek

p.s. here is the original image to give you an idea of how much the posted image was worked, taken with a tripod and timer.
