About yesterday morning when I came downstairs I noticed that the light out back was beautiful! So of course I ran for the camera and ignored the fact that I was already late for work. So, this is one of the photos, zero PS, just converted from raw to jpeg. I love fall! Taken at iso 800, 220mm, handheld.

Those are some nice colourful trees in your backyard. Very lucky. Colours are wonderful.

Your coloring is great here, laura, but your composition... A sea of golden hues in the foreground in front of a sea of golden hues in the background, full of undefinable combinations of sharp and soft focus, except for the right side that somehow manages to give some recognizable pattern of leaves. Such a warm light but it's a pity that it simply gets diffused and wasted in such a mixture of non-defined shapes.

All the best,

Nick

Thanks for commenting Nick.
You're right about everything. I couldn't pass up capturing the light but didn't take the time to do more. Next time, I will take the time.

You hit the nail on its head, Laura! Exactly! Time! And I am glad that you considered that.

I know how hard it can be to somehow control the own enthusiasm about such a special light. The thing is that the own enthusiasm and the own wonderful impression are unfortunately not available to the spectators the way they were available in the sight and mind of the photographer. Nature, especially in such a light, is one of the most difficult things to capture.

So, the strange thing in this case is that a very cool mind, exact study, and if possible a complete departure from the own enthusiasm is needed in order to take a shot that conveys the own enthusiasm, the own sight. Hard to do, I know, since we can never really jump out of ourselves. But that's what makes photography so interesting in its subtleness.

Best wishes,

Nick
