Location City -  Groblershoop
State -  NORTHERN CAPE
Country - South Africa   South Africa
About Taken close to a very small rural town called Groblershoop. The landscape is made up of sandblown red dunes covered with a savanna/thicket type vegetation which was particularly lush after some exeptional rains. This cloud dominated the sky and demanded a photo. I took 3 shots next to each other in portrait format and stitched them together in Panorama Maker 4.

wonderful stillife

Barry Wakelin   {K:7838} 11/2/2006
Fantastic sky. It would have been nice to get really close to one of big tufts of grass as it's a similar shape to the cloud and would make a complete picture.

Hi Joggie,

That cloud looks like it's coming after me! It's definately the leader of the pack, nice capture with a WOW color factor.

Your stitching is seamless, and thanks for the info on the program you used.

Best regards,
Kes

Mark Mahar   {K:3227} 11/4/2006
Outstanding photo. I love the texture and lighting on the clouds. Just curious, did you use a tripod and pan across or just stand in one spot and turn? I see no distortion at all in the horizon. Congrats on the DoD.

cheers, -mm

Guido Tweepenninckx   {K:16317} 11/4/2006
very nice.
I remember those low hanging clouds in SA.

Joggie van Staden   {K:41251} 11/4/2006
Thanks Mark - No tripod,I stood in one place. The Panorama Maker 4 software seems to straighten the horizon to a large extent and the three portrait format shots did not span such a large distance that it could cause major distortions. Regards.
Joggie

Cleveland Smith   {K:7006} 11/4/2006

Hello Joggie,

Congratulations !

Great view, the clouds really jump into the monitor. I can imagine they asked for a photo.
Beautiful landscape, with excellent interpretation of the 3e rule. Like the colours and the POV you chose. The foreground adds to this total view. Well done !!!

Albert
