I've got a cheese grater just like this and , you know, I've never thought of photographing it from any distance or angle. A very worthwhile abstract.

Hi there Gary, thankyou so much for your 'grate' comment,
I hate to let you down, but this is actually an old washing machine bowl that is being used as a planter at a friend's house! I have manipulated it in Photoshop a little and yes, it does appear to be a cheese grater.
The original below does not have such a pronounced curve.
