Nice Shot! Very good composition. Did you crop this image or is this how you shot it?

Ken Daniels   {K:1000} 4/23/2003
IMHO the crop is to tight. DOF is off a bit with the back bird with good detail but the detail degrades badly as you move to the front bird. Those birds sure have a mean look in their eye.

José Figueiredo   {K:49} 4/23/2003
It's a beautiful image. IMO it's a pity that you didn't use a smaller lens aperture to have more DOF and get the three pelicans complety in focus; I think your cropping is also too tight in the bottom and in the right of the picture, as it would have been better to see all the birds. Anyway I enjoyed a lot in seeing it. Regards.

I love this trio, Chelsea!!!
Very good capture...
I like the vertical format, perfectly suited to the positioning of the pelicans in the frame, and emphasised by your choice of a tight crop on the bird in the forefront.
As mentioned in other comments, this image could have benefitted from a different choice of aperture, to get the three birds into focus.
Very attractive tonal range. A touch of colour saturation could give it further visual impact (IMO).
The "top" pelican looks as if he's having a "bad hair day"!!! LOL

Nice capture!

Yes, it just kills me that the front bird is not in sharp focus. It was hard to get them lined up, they were quite close, swimming around excitedly in anticipation of getting some fish scraps, so there just wasn't time to check the overall focus in the image.

great compposition chels!
