About The idea was to make a B&W picture from this coloured close-up of a ranunculus but I had pity on it and stopped taking away colours before ending the action.

Ian

Giuseppe Guadagno   {K:33980} 11/23/2006
Ian, we both must ask the Ranunculus for this! There are many varieties of this flower. This has bent petals and bananitas in the middle.
Thanks very much for your great compliment.
Greetings.

Giuseppe

Giuseppe,
I wonder how looked the original image before you decided to desaturate it. And I wonder why it went on green a bit.
Good you play with colors - the results can be really surprising and splendid sometimes.
By the way lovely details, really amazing shadows and lights.

narabia     {K:9560} 11/23/2006
I played with colos a bit :)

Giuseppe Guadagno   {K:33980} 11/23/2006
Excellent Monika, very light, transparent, delicate, in your style. I chose a starker contrast of shades and lights more near to my way. But you know that I like very much also your way and then also this your version. The original is in the attachment.
Thanks Monika, I am glad that you like the picture.
Good night.

Giuseppe

Ottima e originale l'idea spiegata nell'about, mi sembra che l'effetto finale sia piu' che soddisfacente.

Andre Denis   {K:56482} 11/23/2006
Great Idea to stop here at this point Giuseppe!
You have created a beauty!

However, I don't think you have to take pity on a fully desaturated image of this.... It would be fantastic in B&W too!! Those kind of petals and details look wonderful in B&W.
Andre

Martina Riolo   {K:7012} 11/23/2006

Joggie van Staden   {K:41275} 11/24/2006
A wise decision Giuseppe! The faint, soft colours of the inner of the flower really pulls the eye into the image. Lovely detail, great composition. Well done again!!

Gabriela Tanaka   {K:17991} 11/24/2006
I believe this is the one that was worth a BIP!!!But - of course - it is a matter of taste! For me this is a gorgeous, sensual shot! The movement in the petals, the paly of light and shadow so sophisticated and the "almost no-colour" make this shot very special!
Giuseppe, my husband cannot see the comment you left at his latest posting because he is in hospital right now recovering after cancer surgery. So, he's going to be absent from Usefilm for a while.
Friendliest regards,
Gabriela

The desaturated tones work very well here my friend and result in a floral study of great delicate beauty. The details are excellent, the dof is superb and the tightly cropped composure is perfect. Well done to you Giuseppe.. All the best....Ray;)

Sandra Anderson   {K:5837} 11/27/2006
This is beautiful...it looks so delicate...I'm glad you didn't take away all of her colours too...

Shy, reserved and pale, a character very like my ranunculus. I love this type of floral pictures that create an emotion.

Sandra, excuse me for the mistake.
When you will considered ended your experimenting all kind of types and categories of photos then I hope that you will decide to marry the floral pictures. You seem to have a gift and the feeling for the flowers.
Take care.

Giuseppe

Ciao Alessandro. L'ho provato il B&N integrale ma mi entusiasma meno. Tu cosa ne pensi?

I appreciate very much that you have replied and we shall have a special understanding in the future. My very best wishes to you as always, take care of you, 'see' you again soon my friend.....Ray

Thanks very much Naomi. I must be specially honored for your interest and appreciation about this floral picture as I have seen in your portfolio that you don't capture images of flowers.
Thanks again. Cheers.

Thanks Andre for your comment that I much appreciate. I tried to complete the desaturation so you can see in the upper attachement the full B&W version. What do you think about?
Thanks again.
Take care.

Andre Denis   {K:56482} 11/29/2006
Hi Giuseppe,
I had a look at the B&W version above just now. It does look good in B&W too. excellent detail in the centre of the flower and also in the delicate white petals.

Having said this, I have to admit that you were right to stop and post the semi desaturated colour version. It does seem more effective that way. I think the version you posted looks better than any of the attached versions.
Andre

Sandra Anderson   {K:5837} 12/1/2006
