I like this shot because of the color and overall tone of it, I would have wanted to get closer to it,,,there are probably alot of great shots to be had by this building,,,but for me,,,well done

Estupenda composición, escelentes texturas , muy adecuado sepia!

Hi Dave,
Thanks for commenting on this one. Come back and visit any time.
You are so right about there being several good shot to be had here. I had a hard time just choosing which version of this one to post. It looked pretty good in straight B&W and also in a desat colour version.
I'll attach one below.
Andre

Desat Version

Thanks again Alicia,
I attached a slightly different version to my last reply.

I like the toning in the posted version and that in the attachment as well my friend. I agree, it is difficult to imagine what this none up and one down abode might have been used for. If this is situated in what was a field of marketable vegetation then maybe it was a rest station for the workers mealtimes or somesuch. There is a lot of character in the shack's details and a lot of sadness in the decline of something once useful. My very best wishes to you as always dear Andre.....Ray:)

Andre Denis   {K:56180} 11/24/2006
Hi Ray,
It is at the edge of a cornfield, by the side of the road, a long way from any farm house. It seems too small and enclosed for a sales stand, (not much traffic here either) So, maybe a storage shed for tools and equipment? Anyway, it looked quite photogenic sitting there all by itself, what ever it is.

Thanks again Dave,
It was hard to choose which to post. I like the attached version too.

Gorgeous image Andre! Good eye, not sure how many would have spotted this one! The tones are beautiful, very well captured my friend! Darlene

Andre Denis   {K:56180} 11/25/2006
Thanks Darlene,
Although I think a lot of the people here at this site would have stopped to get a few shots of this. I'm sure you would have :)

wow now thats a real fixer upper, what a wonderful scene it makes in the middle of the field, love the fact that it barely standing , really appealing capture! my only critique as you know, I dont like boarders LOL .. take care..

Allen Aisenstein   {K:5652} 11/26/2006
Good texture and dof. Fine detail. Nice work!

Andre Denis   {K:56180} 11/26/2006
Hi Marcus,
You have to admit... my borders are getting smaller :)
I took a couple more of this little shed under slightly different conditions yesterday. (posted one today) It is near the same place where I took those turkey shots. I was hoping to get some shots of the Harrier Hawks close up. I did get a couple but not the greatest.
Andre

Andre Denis   {K:56180} 11/26/2006
Thanks Allen,
I'll be posting a couple more of this shack under slightly different lighting conditions.
Andre

Fadel J   {K:13685} 11/27/2006
A great find and beautiful shot of it Andre. Probably I would have tried to get some sky in the frame, but from the angle of the shot it looks facing down so I think it was impossible. But regardless, this is beautiful!

Kes     {K:18710} 11/27/2006
Hi Andre,
I like the appearance of contrast better in the first version, and the shack seems to get more attention there also.

...perhaps years ago those Thanksgiving Day border hopping turkeys hid out here.
:)
Kes

Andre Denis   {K:56180} 11/27/2006
Hi Fadel,
Luckily I took a few different angles of this shack. I am posting the last one tonight and it will include some sky :) The sky is not too dramatic, but it will at least let you see a version with a horizon and a tree line. I think my personal favourite is the one with the light coming through the middle of the shack.
Andre

Andre Denis   {K:56180} 11/27/2006
Hi Kes,
This little series on this shack was actually taken about a quarter mile from where I took the shots of those crazy turkeys. You might be right. Maybe it is their shack :)
I'm going to post one more of this shack tonight and then retire it.
Andre

Andre Denis   {K:56180} 11/29/2006
Thanks Jani,
I did a couple more of this place from different angles and left them in colour. See what you think.
Andre

Thilo Bayer   {K:50301} 11/30/2006
Hi Andre,

This shack seems to be off-duty for some times now ;-) While I like the vintage look, I feel this image would gain some power with a different contrast. The corn is too dark to stand against the shack very well. just an idea though ;-)

best wishes my friend, Thilo

Andre Denis   {K:56180} 12/1/2006
Hi Thilo,
I agree with you, for the most part. I still like this one, and I think a lot of other people genuinely like images like this. But, I also see that it doesn't have a lot of range or variety in the tones. I think that is one of the reasons I went with the colour images in the next two. I even posted an attachment of this one that is a semi desaturated version. Looking back now I wish I had posted it instead. However the attached desat version also suffers from low contrast to some extent.

My personal favourite is the second in the series. I like the feeling of the natural sunrise coming through the back windows and lighting up the inside.

BTW the other two images were taken a week after this one.
Andre
