Michael, interesting concept, wonder what it might do if a person used a sepia toned image?

Michael Kanemoto   {K:22103} 11/24/2006
hey c -

this algorithm reads in the color of the pixels in the images and then takes that as a particle. the particle races a path with some random velocity and acceleration.

if the image was sepia the result would be sepai. I can contol the hue, saturation, and brightness, but here I stick to the basics.

m-

this is the better of the new images. very good looking effect. if you have maya, have you tried mapping the image to a particle's RGBpp attribute? pretty cool if you have proc power, to have the image made up of a trillion particles, and then just add a little bit of volume noise to the particles, and randomize the weight of each particle. Then animate.. sit back and trip out.

keep it up M!

cheers,
-joel

Hey - see comment. forgot to reply directly.

Maya...

At one time I used Alias Sketch... I recently downloaded blender and was, to say the least, completely overwhelmed by the interface. It's been so long since a CATIA course and some of the 3D work that I've become hopelessly stale.

Unfortunately I can't run the software or have the big iron to support what you are talking about, but man, I think it is close to what I can get in slo-mo with this iterative particle stuff.

Kind of like "The Lawnmower Man" movie with the particle explosion. Only better.
