About A 1940's forces re-enactment in North Yorkshire over a glorious weekend last month. Steam trains, authentic clothing, music and ambience this was a fantastic opportunity.

This couple were just magic together (and we since found out they are a couple in real life too !)

Cannot wait for the next re-enactment.

Hi Steve,How are you my friend..If you dont mind I have playing with your photo, what do you think about the B&W version..? have all the best..riny

B&W Version

Paul Lara   {K:86846} 11/25/2006
This is a beautiful shot, Stephen, but for the purplish cast on their faces.

Paul Lara   {K:86846} 11/25/2006
Yeah, I'd think B&W or sepia would be the best bet, too.

Stephen Bowden   {K:64540} 11/25/2006
Excellent Riny, I wondered about B&W as it certainly would suit the era perfectly.

I have another one with the sepia treatment that I may upload tomorrow lol

Totally different to this one :-)

Thanks again my friend, super to hear from you again.

Steve

Stephen Bowden   {K:64540} 11/25/2006
Hi Paul,

Yes I agree, I thought long and hard about converting it. Will hopefully put another up tomorrow if I remember :-)

Best wishes,
Steve

There's an awful colour cast here that spoils what is otherwise a quite amazing image. They really do look the part, so I think black and white or sepia is the way to go, with perhaps a tad more contrast. Would be a fave for me if it worked out.
Regards, Gary

Hi Stephen,
They look great! And compliment each other too. I personally like the colours, and feel the muted colours work to enhance the 'old' look. best wishes

Melanie

Stephen Bowden   {K:64540} 11/26/2006
Hi Melanie,
Many thanks indeed, I also like the muted colours but looking at some of the comments they are not to everyones taste lol
Well, they say photography can be subjective !
Thanks again,
Steve

Hi Stuart,
Wow it has been a while now, how are you :-)
I am mainly "elsewhere" at the moment but like to keep popping back here where my interest was first awakened. Great to see you again.
Steve

Lovely photo.

Hope you are keeping well & bright :) x

Larry Quigley   {K:12887} 11/26/2006
A great period picture, Steve. It looks like it came straight out of the 40s. Glad to see you back. I too think a change to B & W would be more in keeping with the period. A well done portrait, Steve. Regards, Larry.

Ray Pollard   {K:3720} 11/27/2006
Nice one Stephen, Kieth Saint & myself forgot all about the 1940's re-enactment, glad you made it though, I bet you got some great shots eh, we will have to have another get together soon.

Ray Pollard   {K:3720} 11/27/2006
Sorry "Stephen"

Florin Pavel   {K:5296} 12/2/2006
Hi Stephen! Long time no seen! This is a magnificent vintage-look composition. Great event and great chance for you to be there.

Kind Regards my friend

Stephen,

I haven't visited usefilm in a couple of months but I was pleased to see you have apparently returned. I really like this one. Very 40ish but I wonder if it wouldn't look better in b&w? I especially like the Red Devil's uniform. That is what you call your paratroopers, isn't it?

Stephen Bowden   {K:64540} 12/15/2006
Hello Jack, lovely to hear from you.
I do still pop in on Usefilm from time to time - I owe this site a lot for all the friends I have met both online and in person and have learned so much.
I am pretty busy with other jobs that keep me away from posting as often as I would like to though !
All the very best wishes Jack.
Steve

This is a touching photo, Steve. The couple appear to be straight from Central Casting. Very dedicated, too. What a great tribute. You Britains had a rough time right on your own soil.
