About A candid of a girl waiting on a seat on the banks of the Yarra. Her reflective pose caught my eye. Not as sharp as I would like, but I was shooting in 'stealth mode' LOL!

This is a beautifully stolen portrait, just as sharp as it needs to be. The image has a gentle softness about it. I love the hairs on her arm. B&W suits this shot, the composition is perfectly balanced. Nice work. CC

Rodrigo Cunha   {K:2170} 12/3/2006
This is just beautifull... fantastic composition B&W conversion and crop! really craking shot!

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 12/3/2006
Hey there Cathy, thanks so much for your very kind comment. She was quite a striking looking girl when we had walked along the river in front of her, so I was pleased to see her still there when we came back.
The light was nice to pick up the hairs on her arms and some detail in her clothes, I was very happy to see this one develope as it did.
cheers, Bek

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 12/3/2006
Again Rodrigo, many thanks for looking in and leaving your thoughts.
I don't often get to take candid shots on the street as the town I live in does not lend itself to that type of thing!! So I am quite happy with this one.
cheers, Bek

A beautiful image Rebecca. I like how the repeated horisontal lines are broken by the figure of the waiting lady. Lovely B&W tones too. Great work.
Joggie

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 12/3/2006
Thankyou so much Joggie, she was quite lovely and I felt a bit bad for stealing her portrait but did not want to ask her and risk losing the naturalness of her pose! I do not often get to take street candids as the people in my town are not as relaxed and it is hard to be inconspicuous.
cheers, Bek

Pablo Dylan   {K:53602} 12/3/2006
I like it,very emotive street.

Bek... The tones in this a great... Her relaxed, thoughtful pose, even the way her fingers are curved...:)

Very nice work... So glad your trip to the city was productive...

Aniko Heart   {K:25957} 12/3/2006
It is a wonderful image Bek!

It doesn't have to be pin sharp to have great mood and atmosphere. I like it the way it is!
The B&W tones are exactly spot on as is the DOF and overall composition.
Can't fault it, hon.

Good stuff!

Hugs~
Ani :)x

Hesham El-Bendak   {K:1053} 12/3/2006
a graet catch for the moment while she is in deep thoughts

Robin Wickenkamp   {K:16383} 12/3/2006
Nice "steal" Bek...perfect choice (IMHO) to convert to B&W, reminds me of an old movie...very, very nice!

Take care...Robin

Hey there Mum, it's funny that you mention her fingers...for some reason her hands intrigue me, they are quite graceful.

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 12/4/2006
Ani, thanks for the vote of confidence! The colour version is noice too but I certainly prefer this one. She had such a 'look' about her I couldn't resist stealing a shot.
hugs, Bek

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 12/4/2006
Hey there Barn, thanks a bunch for your look and great comment. Her head scarf and pose has an old movie feel, helped along by the b&w of course....
keep well gorgeous girl,

You're welcome, dear Bek!:)

Giulio Rotelli   {K:28375} 12/4/2006
This shot has the taste of classic Paris postcard shots...
So poetic, so well composed and so intriguing..
I love the B & W choice: is perfect!

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 12/4/2006
Thankyou so much Giulio, her pose was so graceful and captivating, begging me to capture the moment.
The colour was nice, but certainly B+W was the perfect choice, happy you agree,
cheers, Bek

Sandra Anderson   {K:5837} 12/4/2006
So did you do the true hollywood movie thing and part the shrub in two and push your camera through for that ever "stealth" shot? awesome photo...love it in b&w and love that it was stealth because that distant faraway pensive look she has couldnt be captured had she been posing for you...i like too how she's on the left, looking yonder and you've given us plenty of room to follow her look...just "gorgeous" (little britain comes to mind with that word :) )

S

rebecca claassen   {K:16410} 12/4/2006
Sandra, what a fabulous comment! I love your way with words, you let me know exactly what you are thinking, I'm not left wondering what the heck you are talking about, so thankyou for that.
No, no bushes to part, if that was the case I probably could have snapped a few more of her.
I did set the focal length in another direction, and then quickly pan around to her and 'snap', then walk away whistling nonchalantly....LOL!
cheers, Bek

Liz Wallis   {K:25472} 12/4/2006
LOL...stealth mode, I like that Bek. The compo and the perspective are beautiful and you captured the mood of the moment perfectly.

Wayne Harridge   {K:11894} 12/7/2006
Great pose and very well composed.

Funny though, the more I look at it, she seems to have an extra large hand (or a small head) ! Strange.

Michal Smolarski   {K:516} 12/27/2006
lovely picture. I especialy like tones balance, and crop. The mud is very nice, and cosy.
Congratulations.
