About Portrait taken this morning. Client didn\'t want the sterotypical leaning on the harp, or playing poses. It was a bit of a challenge.

Quasi un quadro!

One shot of her playing the harp would be great, anyhow, this is a good shot.

Very nice work !

Keith Naylor   {K:13064} 4/25/2003
Very well lit an technically very nice, however my eye is drawn the the scarfe/drape, when I feel I should be looking at her face.

Nice soft image. I have chronic pain and I take pictures, edit, and view them and that makes me feel better or forget the pain some. I knew a woman that plays a harp that has chronic pain and that made her feel better from the vibrations and the plucking. Well my harp is photography.

I think if her eyes were a touch sharper than this would have added so much more to this photo. I think a light blue background would have helped with the harps natural colouring. Good result.

elegant composition.. excellent lightning. Regards,T.

This one caught my eye real quick while scrolling through the day's posts. Very nice lighting, pose and background. I don't agree with the suggestion for a blue background, this one is great. If anything a bit more distance between model and background for a darker tone which would help to highlight the harp more. What I'm not so excited about is the arm behind the drape...at least the way the arm is being held so straight. Perhaps a graceful bend at the elbow or placing that hand on the upper part of the instrument to help merge the two subjects into one.

You're really making that softbox earn it's keep. Don't want no freeloaders hangin' around now do we?

One question Louise, how large is the photo when uploading. If larger than the default resize here at Usefilm then that could be where the soft, almost out of focus look comes from. Keep your longest dimension at 640 (or less), apply the USM and you're good to go.

As for the photoslug feedback, just depends if it's up or down (again!).

Louise, it is a lovely portrait, friend of mine she plays and teaches the harp, everytime she goes in to have a portrait done, she complains about it being the sterotypical pose. This is very elegant and demure. I love it.
