About Second photo with camouflage theme. Was posted with filters applied previously as "Gazing Doe". This version is close to original shot and is too soft in my opinion. However, thought I would post it in honor of the new Wildlife project category.

excellent image Jan. I love this with the camouflage theme... What a beautiful deer.. Nicely composed and I don't think it's too soft, but I understand if you aren't happy with it.. I sure am !
7++

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 12/19/2006
Michele-- Thanks so much for your comments. My concern was the focus (not perfect) which softened the deer's face; I was hoping for more detail. I am glad you like it.
--Best to you, Jan

good capture..... always like seeing deer, getting one in the woods makes it even more special

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 12/19/2006
Paul-- Thanks so much for checking her out and your comments. This doe had a fawn a few feet behind her and I could not get a view of the little one to take another picture. Hope to see more soon.
--Best regards to you, Jan

I know Jan,Its very difficult to catch this little girl, but you did it great!! 7/7 best regards from Riny

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 12/19/2006
Thanks so much, Riny. She was very skittish because her fawn was following behind her. She was "giving me the eye".
--Best regards, Jan

Robin Wickenkamp   {K:16434} 12/19/2006
WOW Jan...I don't think softness is an issue, this is wonderful...great dof and composition. I can hear the silence...truly a beautiful capture!

Take care...Robin

Jan Hoffman   {K:39373} 12/19/2006
Thanks, Robin. Where I went wrong I think is the slight out-of-focus condition on the doe's face. It is not razor sharp and lacking in the level of detail that I would have liked. Two factors: first one is that this photo was taken before my son-in-law, Joel, talked me into shooting RAW format. Secondly, I had all six or so Canon focus points active and lost a bit of control over where the focus point should be. Thanks again for your your kind comment.
--Best regards, Jan

Eb Mueller   {K:22993} 1/5/2007
I like the composition, Jan. Also, I agree with you about the overprocessing - it makes the deer look plastic.
