Perfect feline portrait! Gorgeous face. I can't believe this is hand held, it is so well focussed. All the important aspects are selectively highlighted. You have captured the essence of cat expertly in this image. Very, very nice work. A favourite. CC

Well done, Linn! You've framed the cat very well, and the detail and colours in the fur are excellent!
BTW, how do you like the 10D?
Dave.

Hi Dave
Thank you for the compliment and comments.

A bit of background on myself, before I comment on the K10D :-) Remember I photograph my cats and kittens a lot (for my website) and only use one hand to hold the camera as the other hand holds a teaser wand to attract the cat/kitten's attention. I have always shied away from a heavy camera for this specific reason. Another thing - I know squat about photography and thus depended on the settings of a nice point-and-shoot digcam.

Then I had the opportunity to shoot with a friend's Pentax *istDL and I was totally hooked! Granted, for my "studio" shots I now use a tripod and when I am lucky, I have an assistant to help with the teaser wand waving. But my "casual cat shots" and my recent zoo trip the camera was hand-held. The SR function is a blessing :-)

I have a LOT to get used to, and to learn. This being a SLR I am still finding my way with all the settings, and I spend a lot of time just practicing and playing around with the different settings.

As for the Pentax K10D - man, this is an awesome camera! Raving reviews, except for the recent low score on .jpg sharpness given by DPreview. However, I am yet to find any of these "soft" images from my K10D!! I have seen photographs coming from the K10D that makes the Canon and Nikon people sit up and look with interest. The camera is easy to handle, it's big but it is a very nice "big boy toy" to handle and work with.

When you have the opportunity, go and give it a try in the shop and see for yourself how good this camera is.

Sorry this is so long - but I think you can tell that I am really very impressed!

Regards
Linn

Hi Linn, thanks for the quick and lengthy reply, especially the part about DPreview's comments!
Dave.
