Very good, I like the way the face even same color with the rocks at the back viewed very nicely, surely the lighting helps a lot as gives that white - shining areas on her face. Good!

wow, Jacques! Good eye to notice that! It's always fun to find faces or profiles in the rocks like that. I guess you'll have to call it "Mayan Rock Art" hahaha. Great portrait shot. Cheers, Gary

Now, this shot has some style Jacques, you have been clever enough to include the s/speed and aperture......I wonder if a larger aperture and a faster s/speed would blur the background out a bit and bring more power to the subject without losing the amazing background outline that you mention?.....then again what you have done is probably deliberate, it's a nicely exposed and balanced composition, well done. cheers, david.

jac,
Oh, my Gosh, you butt face you. How could you have kept this "Masterpiece" from me for so long?
I can't believe "My Eyes"... "My Hat is Off to you Sir"... ;)
"Award Winning"
Now that is a: "Portrait" indeed... 20 +++++
Awesome Lighting, Shadows DOF, Sharpness, Tones, Textures, Colours and Bokeh...

jac,
Now you can see what I was talking about, when I told you about Portraits. A shutter speed of 1/125 @ f/8.0 is perfect for portraits, as you can see above.
However landscapes are another story... Which should be shot at a much deeper DOF, like f/22, or f/32, using a much slower shutter speed... ;)
You can shoot very slow, without a tripod, as well... Just use the IS setting on your lens and the hood of your truck to steady the shot, or something solid... ;)
Heck I have used the same lens to shoot a waterfall with a shutter speed of 1/5 @ f/5.6 hand held with the support of the rocks to steady the camera. It was a very low light setting, indeed and I would have shot it with a 1 second shutter speed using a much deeper DOF if I had my tripod with me, that day... LMAO... I'll post it bellow... ;)
Hope this helps,
Martin

Bravo Jacques.

Jacques, your daughter is quite attractive. I havent looked through all your photos yet, but if you havent already, you should employ her as a model. By the way, this is a place (Monument valley) on my list to visit as well, but I rarely leave this side of the earth these days. Must get back sometime to North America.
Warmest regards ~ James
