stunning poetic scene. beautiful composition. superb.

Gary Dyck   {K:12066} 1/13/2007
Great shot, Dave. "Peace & Tranquility" works well as would "Classic Landscape" as this truly is a classic winter scene with the fence and the red barn enveloped in snow as it were. The shadows in the snow in the foreground give a little "texture" to the photo. Well seen. Cheers, Gary

Jason Hopson   {K:3283} 1/13/2007
Hello Dave. This is a terrific capture of a great scene.

The placement and colour of the barn make it a key focal point. That is balanced by the prominance of the fence in the foreground. Beautiful sky too.

Excellent shot. What more can I say that hasn't been already said by the previous posters! Pretty much has it all.

Joe

Just one word: beau-ti-ful !!
Peter

Thank you, Nacho.. I'm not sophisticated enough to understand how a photo becomes "poetic" but I will take your word... Appreciate your comments!!

Dave

Thanks so much, Gary. This was my first take after spotting this... and it was the shot I had in mind to capture it. Even though I took many other angles, this one (I thought) was still the better of them all.

Dave

Thank you very much, Jason. I really appreciate the fine critique!

Best wishes,

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 1/13/2007
Thank you, Riny... and yep, the weather has been very strange globally... of course, there are those who ignore the warnings.

well, Dave, you can't go wrong with this shot. Many times, the first instinct is the "correct" one. But it's always nice to have "backups"! I usually have numerous slightly differing angles... but that sometimes leaves me wondering which one truly is better!...Can be very confusing at times... Of course, the times I only have one shot of something I always say "well, why didn't I just take a couple more pictures from just a slightly different angle?"!! Can't win sometimes.. (but you certainly did with this one!) Cheers, Gary

Dave Arnold   {K:55649} 1/13/2007
Thanks, Paul!

Hello Dave, I have all ready done so much to this computer I am sick of it for now, I plan on takeing it in to the computer shop as soon as this little ice strom is over, but thanks for offering to help me, Even if you told me I am a little thick headed, if any one could mess it up it would be me. It might not be much wrong with it, and if I take it in it want cost as much. hugs my friend.

Don Loseke   {K:32503} 1/15/2007
That's a great postcard picture. Don.

Kelly Duntley   {K:13055} 1/17/2007
What a great winter scene. I love how the old barn is tucked right next to the hills to give it some protection against the elments. That beautiful red really stands out against the white. The enclusion of the fence was a great idea as it breaks up all the white snow and give a great sence of depth. Nice work Dave!!!
